FKI Logistex Adds Pick-to-Light Capability to Its Warehouse Software Suite

Pick Manager module provides option for light-directed picking operations

(St. Louis, Missouri, USA: September 20, 2007) FKI Logistex® (www.fkilogistex.com), a global leader in integrated material handling solutions, announces the addition of pick-to-light order fulfillment capability to the Pick Manager module of the company's Warehouse Software Suite(TM) (WSS). WSS features a portfolio of software products to effectively control the flow of people, product and processes in warehouses, distribution centers and manufacturing facilities.

FKI Logistex WSS functions as a warehouse control system (WCS) that supplements enterprise resource planning (ERP) and warehouse management systems (WMS) to improve overall accuracy and performance. By controlling a wide range of material handling equipment and software, WSS helps customers effectively manage product flow and fill the operational gaps in their automated material handling systems.

WSS offers flexible process management through scalable software, and can be integrated either as a complete warehouse execution system or as individual products. To support standard light-directed picking systems, FKI Logistex has added further capability to WSS Pick Manager. In addition to the management of paper and radio-frequency (RF) picking operations, Pick Manager now provides coordination of order fulfillment operations using the FKI Logistex Trak3(TM) pick-to-light system.

WSS Pick Manager integrates Trak3 pick-to-light hardware with easy-to-use planning, execution and monitoring software tools. With built-in features for wave picking, pick-and-pass and productivity management, WSS allows customers to add essential pick-to-light capability that maximizes productivity, speed and accuracy. The FKI Logistex Trak3 "cable-less" system offers a wide range of pick-to-light devices with bright multi-color LEDs, vibrant displays, and ergonomic buttons. Trak3 compact devices can be used for densely spaced pick locations or applied to handle multiple locations with one device.

Additional WSS products include Route Manager(TM) for conveyor and sortation routing, Carousel Manager(TM) for automated and manual carousels, and Order Manager(TM) for inventory locations and order processing.

"The FKI Logistex Warehouse Software Suite and its flexible modules enable the FKI Logistex product portfolio to work together to control the flow through a material handling facility," says Jerry Koch, product director, software and controls, FKI Logistex North America. "By continually adding new functionality to WSS, FKI Logistex offers the most advanced software solutions, customizable to fit each customer's material handling strategy."

Web Browser Interface
FKI Logistex WSS also features an optional Activity Manager web browser interface for visibility into operational, inventory and order status. A secure intranet interface provides real-time monitoring of inventory, locations, orders, alarms and web reports. With an easy-to-navigate web interface, WSS Activity Manager provides customers with up-to-date system information, convenient and flexible data filtering, and drill-down information retrieval. The WSS Activity Manager also includes live web cameras for convenient visual activity monitoring of the facility.
