NextComputing Adds Seagate's Momentus 7200.2 (200GB) Drives to Line of Portable, Flextop Computers

For Immediate Release: September 18, 2007, NextComputing, creators of portable, high performance computers, announces the addition of Seagate Technology's Momentus 7200.2 (200GB capacity) hard drive to its line of flextop computers.

With a powerful combination of high performance, capacity and durability in a laptop hard drive, the Seagate Momentus 7200.2 is the ideal choice for high performance laptops, gaming systems, commercial systems, workstations, and small form factor PCs. NextComputing has taken the innovative technology and applied it to its line of flextops, the only class of computer offering complete desktop workstation capability in a portable package.

The addition of Seagate's high-performance 200GB Momentus 7200.2 notebook hard drive to NextComputing's NextDimension Evo flextops enable exceptional data throughput to support performance-hungry applications including video production, SD/HD video encoding and DVR and advanced 3D medical imaging, as well as seismic, forensic, and other data analysis. This addition also illuminates the company's recent focus on a niche that is underserved in the Telecom/Datacom markets; the need for portability in high performance systems for use as sniffers, traffic generators, or data recorders.

"As technology across all industries trends towards mobile computing, we see the use of our systems in the Telecom/Datacom markets as a toolbox. This enables technicians to reduce the time it takes to monitor, record and stream data by providing all they need in a portable package, eliminating the need for bulky equipment, long cords, and on site equipment solely for these purposes," explains Bob Labadini, President and CTO of NextComputing.

"The growing number of computer users turning to laptops as their primary PCs want every inch of capacity, performance, and durability they enjoy in their desktop systems," said Michael Wingert, Seagate executive vice president and general manager, Personal Compute Business. "The new Momentus 7200.2 hard drive epitomizes Seagate's focus on delivering cutting-edge storage technologies that make it easier to move, use, and protect digital information in the home, in the office, and on-the-go."

Momentus 7200.2 200GB hard drives combine the highest levels of performance, capacity, and durability with cool, power-thrifty operation - all essential capabilities for NextComputing's Evo series. Up to 17 of these drives can be configured into an Evo, making it the highest capacity mobile workstation available. The Evo allows you to transfer these multiple simultaneous data streams with its RAID off-load capabilities and multiple Momentus 7200.2 drives.
