Mobile Hydraulic Sensor features CANbus interface.

October 9, 2007 - Working with CAN J1939 and CANopen, MH Sensor measures displacement and speed variables. Unit consists of sensor head with built-in electronics, pressure-proof sensor pipe that protects internal sensing element, and position magnet. In addition to 100 g shock and 25 g vibration ratings, sensor has 200 V/m EMI protection. Unit is designed for cylinders measuring 2 in. in diameter and larger and provides measurement ranges from 2-98 in.

MTS Develops Mobile Hydraulic Sensor with CANbus Interface

CARY, NC - (August 14, 2007) - MTS Systems Corp., Sensors Division has built upon
its proven mobile hydraulic position sensor technology with the development of an MH
sensor with a CANbus interface. Combining proven TemposonicsŪ technology with the
off-road market's interface of choice, the compact sensor is ideal for use in welded and tie-rod cylinders, or any space-limited cylinder applications.

"The M-Series Model MH sensor with CANbus output is designed with the mobile world in mind, and is validated in the field by customers worldwide," said Brian Cox, Technical Marketing Manager for Mobile Hydraulics at MTS.

The MH sensor works with CAN J1939 and CANopen, measuring displacement and speed variables. The sensor is extremely reliable once installed inside a hydraulic
cylinder, even when subjected to the harsh conditions found in off-highway machinery,
and a recent re-design of the mechanical housing has provided a more robust wire/cable
exit that improves the level of strain relief and sealing.

With a 100g shock and 25g vibration rating, the MH sensor was designed for rugged environments, especially those typically encountered in construction, agriculture, and other off-highway machinery.

The MH sensor consists of a sensor head with rugged housing and built-in electronics, a pressure-proof sensor pipe that protects the internal sensing element, and a position magnet. Along with high shock and vibration ratings, the sensor has 200V/m
EMI protection.

Designed for cylinders two inches in diameter (or larger), the MH sensor provides
measurement ranges between two to 98 inches (50-2500mm), while maintaining high
levels of accuracy and repeatability.

M-Series sensors meet ISO14982 standards for agricultural and forest machines
and ISO7637-0/1/2 standards for road vehicles, and are CE-certified. The MH sensor can
be installed from the head side or the rod side of the cylinder depending on the cylinder design.
