Synology Announced Disk Station DS207+ for Small Businesses

Taipei, Taiwan - September 17, 2007 - Synology, a leading next-generation NAS provider, will launch the brand new Disk Station DS207+, a high-end model of the Disk Station DS207, in early October. The DS207+ is an ultra-high-performance 2-bay NAS server designed for use in environments that require efficient data access. Equipped with 128 Mb RAM and 500 MHz CPU, it increases the performance of this server over DS207 and thus helps users meet the fierce competition of the business world.

Statistics from internal testing of the DS207+ conducted by Synology shows that the performance has been increased by 24-70%, depending on the file size and tasks performed. In the 1 Gb large file transferring, the DS207+ with a RAID 1 configuration overpasses its DS207 counterpart by 41% and 24% in Windows network upload and download, while overpasses by 70% and 61% in FTP upload and download. In the 10 Gb multiple file transfer, the testing result of DS207+ with a RAID 1 configuration surpasses that of DS207 of the same configuration by 28% and 24% in Windows network upload and download, and by 60% and 40% in FTP upload and download.

Performance aside, to respond to the massively-requested feature from Synology fans, Synology has added an extra eSATA port on DS207+. Users now have the option of using an extra hard disk for data backup and restore not only through a USB hard disk enclosure but also through an eSATA hard disk enclosure.

Earlier in September, Synology has unveiled new firmware to introduce new features, among which the File Station, Audio Station, and new Photo Station 2+video are mostly anticipated. The File Station allows file access and management from anywhere on any computer, with simply a web browser. The Audio Station allows streaming music and Internet radio stations from DS207+ to connected USB speakers. Music on iPod's connected to the DS207+ can also be played. With the optional Synology Remote, controlling the music playback is easier than ever. The new Photo Station 2+video now supports video streaming on a web browser.

With these new hardware and software enhancements, the DS207+ is the perfect choice for Small Businesses. It now completes the Synology NAS portfolio, which also includes DS107+ for the Small Business market as well as CS407 and RS407 for the corporate market.
