Carbide Thread Mills work with difficult materials.

September 18, 2007 - Miniature Solid Carbide Thread Mills are designed for machining materials such as stainless steels, titanium, K-monel, hastelloy, and inconel. Available in 1- and 3-flute versions, with latter suited for high-volume output needs, design eliminates possibility and consequences of tap breakage. There is no need for hand tapping during full bottom threading applications, and bottom threading can be performed to within 1 pitch. Thread length varies from 0.125-0.328 in.

Emuge Introduces New Miniature Solid Carbide Thread Mills for Efficient, Reliable Threading of Difficult Materials.

WEST BOYLSTON, MA U.S.A. (August 21, 2007) Emuge Corporation, the leader in thread cutting technology, has introduced a new series of Miniature Solid Carbide Thread Mills that are optimally designed for easy machining of difficult materials such as stainless steels, titanium, K-monel, hastelloy, and inconel. The line is suitable for a variety of applications including those in the medical, aerospace, defense, and computer industries. Due to their size and design, the new thread mills can increase productivity in several ways.

For maximum efficiency and cost savings, the new thread mills eliminate the possibility and consequences of tap breakage. Thread mills are available in both 1 flute and 3 flute versions, with the latter being ideal for high volume output needs. The new thread mills remove costly manual operations by eliminating the need for hand tapping during full bottom threading applications. Bottom threading can be performed to within 1 pitch. The miniature thread mills function highly efficiently with externally supplied coolant and eliminate the need for thread cutting oil, so parts and coolant reservoirs are not contaminated, as can be experienced when using a tapping method in difficult materials.

"As the demand in today's market increases for smaller parts and more efficient machining solutions, so do the threading solutions from Emuge," said Mr. Mark Hatch, Product Manager, Thread Milling for Emuge. "The miniature sizes offered and features designed into these new thread mills provide our customers with a high-quality and dependable threading solution for a variety of difficult materials."

The New Miniature Solid Carbide Thread Mills include an easily controlled pitch diameter and offer precise thread depth controls, up to 2xD, so that one tool can be used for both through and blind holes. STI threads can be easily produced and the new Emuge Miniature Solid Carbide Thread Mills produce excellent thread finish and gauging. Overall length of the thread mill is 1 5/8" (41mm) with a shank diameter of 1/8" (3.175mm). The line includes thread sizes of #0-80, #2-56, #4-40, #5-40, #6-32 and #8-32 and cutting diameters from 0.045" (1.143mm) - 0.124" (3.15mm). Thread length ranges from 0.125" (3.175mm) - 0.328" (8.33mm).
