New S100 Skid-Steer Loader Has It All: Compact Size, Power and Spacious Cab

WEST FARGO, N.D. - June 2007
Contractors needing a loader with power and comfort in a compact package, can find just that in the new Bobcat® S100 skid-steer loader from Bobcat Company, a business of Ingersoll Rand. The new 1,000-pound rated operating capacity (ROC) loader features a spacious cab, easy-to-read instrument panel and a transversely mounted engine in a frame small enough to access and work in some of the tightest jobsites.

The new S100 replaces the Bobcat 553 skid-steer loader model and is ideal for customers in rental, demolition, landscaping and construction markets. Its narrow width of 50 inches with bucket allows operators to travel through backyard gates in residential areas, access the inside of buildings for interior demolition and work between buildings and other tight quarters on construction sites. In addition to its 1,000-pound ROC, the S100 loader features a four-cylinder, 33.5-hp diesel engine and a lift height of 8 feet 6 inches for loading and dumping debris and materials. With an operating weight of only 4,110 pounds, contractors can easily transport the loader between jobsites.

One of the more impressive features on the S100 skid-steer loader is its roomy cab. The S100's new deluxe cab offers ample leg, seat, arm and head room, provides easy entry and exit and has an adjustable cushion seat. The industry-leading cab design also improves visibility of all areas around the machine, which aids the operator when maneuvering in confined areas. Custom-developed headlights help provide further visibility of the work area, while the cab's domed roof helps shed water and its formed ribs increase stiffness and dampen sound.

The S100 also is outfitted with a completely new instrument panel that places additional functionalities and state-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities at operators' fingertips in an easy-to-read format. For example, the instrument panel would display any service codes with the loader's engine, electrical and hydraulic systems. A system shutdown feature on the S100 alerts operators when certain engine and hydraulic systems are out of range, and it then shuts down the machine to prevent catastrophic damage.

Furthermore, the new transversely mounted engine on the S100 helps operators keep their machine in peak operating condition by providing quick and easy access to routine maintenance items. This new engine orientation also allows the machine to be equipped with the same belt drive system as other Bobcat skid-steer loaders for powering the hydrostatic drive system and hydraulic pumps, which provide hydraulic flow to the lift arm, tilt and auxiliary couplers. The new loader also features dual tilt cylinders, which offer even greater visibility and facilitates entering and exiting the cab.

No matter what the job, chances are operators will be able to tackle it because of the more than 35 approved attachments for the S100 loader. Like all Bobcat loaders, the S100 comes with the standard Bob-Tach(TM) attachment mounting system that enables operators to switch between attachments in less than a minute and requires no additional assistance or tools. With a travel speed up to 6.5 mph and a 13.1 hydraulic pump capacity, operators have the speed to go from jobsite to jobsite and the power to get tasks completed with hydraulically driven attachments.
