New Parker Twin Tough Bonded Hose Line Offers Greater Durability, Flexibility, and Abrasion Resistance for Hydraulic Tools

WICKLIFFE, OH, August 20, 2007 - Parker Hannifin Corporation, the global leader in motion and control technologies, today introduced a new family of bonded rubber hydraulic hose called the Twin Tough Bonded Hose line. The line was designed to eliminate the labor and material costs required to manually bundle two separate hoses using tie straps or plastic sleeves. The first two products available within the line are the 451TC Twin Tough and 471TC Twin Tough hoses.

Parker's Twin Tough product line was designed to save money and valuable time spent bundling hose. Studies show that it can take from 20 to 30 minutes to tie-wrap, or sleeve and heat-shrink, a 50-foot conventional dual-hose assembly as compared to Parker's Twin Tough line of bonded hose that comes ready to use. Additionally, by eliminating the tie straps, Parker's Twin Tough hose won't snag on workers or objects at the work site.

Because abrasion resistance is critical where these hoses are used, both Twin Tough hoses are engineered with the Parker Tough Cover (TC) abrasion-resistant cover, providing 80 times more abrasion resistance than standard rubber hose. Designed specifically for the tough work environments regularly encountered in the hydraulic tool world, both Twin Tough hoses provide long-lasting durability for extended field operation. The smooth finish on the cover prevents dirt buildup, making the Twin Tough hose easy to clean.

Applications of Parker's 451TC and 471TC Twin Tough hoses include hydraulic tools used within the railroad maintenance-of-way, utility truck, rescue/emergency, road and highway construction markets, as well as industrial hose reels and over-the-sheave use on material handling equipment such as forklifts.

Designed for maximum bendability, Parker's 451TC and 471TC Twin Tough hoses each feature a one-half SAE 100R1 / 100R2 minimum bend radius, enabling easier handling and coiling on the job site. The Twin Tough hose is available in 25- and 50-foot lengths.

The 451TC Twin Tough bonded hose features a 3,000 psi constant working pressure in -6(3/8") and -8(1/2") sizes; one-wire braided construction; and an abrasion-resistant cover. The 471TC Twin Tough bonded hose features a 5,000 psi in -6(3/8") size and 4,250 psi in -8(1/2") size; two-wire braided construction; and an abrasion-resistant cover.

"Parker's two new Tough Cover bonded hoses provide the flexibility, durability, and abrasion resistance needed for hydraulic tool applications everywhere," said Lewis Schooley, Parker Hose Products Division product sales manager. According to Schooley, the 451TC and 471TC Twin Tough hoses offer real value. "Unlike conventional hose assemblies, our unique bonded rubber hydraulic hose comes off the reel ready to use, enabling easier handling and coiling on the job site. Labor and material costs are also reduced since there's no need to bundle separate hoses," Schooley explained.
