New replaceable battery extends life of meter to more than 30 years
FORT WASHINGTON, Pa. - August 23, 2007 - Severn Trent Services has developed a new replaceable battery for its SmartMeter(TM) SM700 20- and 30-gallon-per-minute water meters. The new battery has a life beyond 15 years and can be exchanged with a meter's existing battery to extend the meter life to more than 30 years. The new battery, when combined with the life long accuracy provided by SmartMeter technology, provides significant cost savings over the life of the meter.
Employing fluidic oscillation technology, SmartMeter water meters have no moving parts and are unaffected by grit and particulates, including sugar sand, a fine silt found in states including Florida, New Jersey, Michigan and California. The technology provides for lifelong accuracy, dependability and cost efficiency. The leading edge water meters provide a range of functions to monitor leakage, supply data and prevent meter tampering, helping water companies optimize their networks. SmartMeter water meters also provide a warning indication 12 months prior to the expiration of the battery. Meters are available in a variety of data output formats for integration into Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) systems.
