Motion Capture System acquires inertial gyroscopic motion.

August 21, 2007 - Able to capture movement using inertial sensors or gyros attached to lycra suit, IGS-190 records simultaneous action and reaction of performance. It uses 19 customized InertiaCube(TM) gyroscopic sensors for detecting nuance of movement and optimizing data output, while global translation system promotes precision of actor positioning and can be enhanced by addition of optional ultrasonic tracking technology. System also allows actors to touch or hug without occlusion.

Animazoo Presents the New IGS-190 at SIGGRAPH 2007

Award winning motion capture company, Animazoo, presents the next generation of its inertial gyroscopic motion capture system, the IGS-190 today at SIGGRAPH. The new system replaces the highly successful Gypsy Gyro 18 and has been in development for over two years. The developments are in response to market demand and are part of Animazoo's continual advancement programme.

The Gypsy Gyro was the world's first inertial gyroscopic motion capture system when it originally launched in 2004. The new product has advanced dramatically since its conception and is due to complete beta testing at the end of July.

"The new system offers smoother, cleaner data with greater realtime functionality," explains Director of Technology, Ali Kord. "It also accurately provides angle data straight from the sensors doing away with solving altogether."

The IGS-190 features a number of new developments:

Improved global translation system (patent pending). The new system dramatically improves the precision of actor positioning and can be further enhanced by the addition of optional ultrasonic tracking technology.

An additional sensor, increasing the number from 18 to 19, for greater nuance of movement and improving data output - which means less cleaning and more lifelike reproduction. Animazoo sensors are specially customised InertiaCube(TM) gyroscopic sensors which meet exacting market demands and eradicate magnetic interference.

The advancements to the system mean it is now even easier to record simultaneous action and reaction of performance. Combined with existing benefits, such as the ability to touch or hug without occlusion, the new IGS-190 affords superior capture of multi-actor interaction.

Jo Hull, Marketing Director said, "Feedback from beta testing already shows that the new features and enhancements have been very well received. For Animazoo, the product launch marks a new phase for the company and has also been an ideal time to refresh our identity. A new logo and web site are also being unveiled this week."

About the current Animazoo Product Range
Animazoo motion capture systems are available to suit most applications and most budgets - from the top of the range IGS-190 to the entry-level electromechanical Gypsy Torso. The IGS-190 captures movement using inertial sensors or gyros attached to a lycra suit.

Animazoo's advanced Gypsy software delivers precise, real-time and accurate data. The systems are proven in a wide range of industries including animation, medical research and engineering.

About Animazoo
Animazoo has been at the forefront of innovation in the world of motion capture since the early 90's. Based in Brighton, the company is the manufacturer of the award winning Gypsy mocap range and IGS-190. It is the market leader in its field.

Portable, accurate and easy to operate, Animazoo products are used for live to air television broadcasts, live performance animation, even in assisting motorcycle designers and future astronauts.

Animazoo's motion capture technology is used around the globe by a host of household names including; game developers such as Rockstar North - producers of Grand Theft Auto, and broadcasters including the BBC and RAI TV in Italy. Systems are also used at some of the world's most prestigious universities including Warwick, Glasgow Caledonian, Tokyo and MIT.
