Consulting Services determines machine vision feasibility.

August 27, 2007 - Feasibility consulting services allow manufacturers to identify potential opportunities to use machine vision for robot guidance and quality inspection. AMT Announces Machine Vision Feasibility Consulting Services

Orion, Michigan - June 28, 2007 - Applied Manufacturing Technologies announced the availability of its new feasibility consulting services for robot guidance and quality inspection. The new service allows manufacturers to identify potential opportunities to use machine vision for robot guidance and quality inspection.

"Machine vision systems can often be implemented to improve process efficiency and eliminate non value-added labor such as manual inspection for repetitive quality inspections," said Joseph Campbell, chief operating officer of Applied Manufacturing Technologies, Inc. "With these feasibility services AMT can review manufacturer's parts and application to conclude whether machine vision can improve that process. AMT does not sell vision equipment. This allows us to take a neutral approach and recommend the solution that is best suited for our customer's application."

AMT's new service can determine if an application is suitable for machine vision, right for the facility and technically feasible. Common uses for machine vision include measuring tolerances, detecting part present or not present, determining part orientation & position, identifying bar codes or other readable characters, guiding robots & product traceability. On review of the customer's parts & application the resulting report will determine if machine vision is applicable and if so can also include a list of components needed to engineer the system. The new service is based on a fixed fee and packages start at $2,100.
