Tyco Electronics Introduces Medical Connector Line

Circular Plastic Connectors Suitable for Medical Applications

HARRISBURG, Pa. - June 20, 2007 - Tyco Electronics has introduced a line of circular plastic connectors (CPC) for medical applications. The new line, named CPC - Medical, is designed for use in surgical instruments, RF and ultrasound ablation and electronic patient monitors used in the operating room.

CPC - Medical connectors are available in 5, 6, 7 and 10 contact positions and are sterilizable via autoclave, STERRAD 100 S1, CIDEX + (wipedown only) and EtO. The CPC - Medical connector line is a wire-to-panel connector system with housings available in black or gray materials and other accent colors for mating polarization. The connector housings are lightweight, shock resistant and feature ergonomic push-pull mating and a robust self-latching mechanism. With a mating force of 2.5 pounds and unmating force of one pound, CPC - Medical connectors are rugged enough for everyday use while remaining ergonomic enough for the fast-paced environments found in emergency rooms, operating rooms and clinics. The connectors have a mating cycle rating of up to 2500 cycles.

Overmolding CPC - Medical connectors is possible with silicone or PVC flex reliefs per customer specifications. Additionally, an integral cable collet can be used in non-overmold applications.

CPC - Medical connectors carry a maximum current rating of 7A for the five position connector. The six position connector carries up to 6A, with the seven position connector carrying 5A and the ten position carrying up to 3A.
