Database optimizes time-series data capture/management.

August 3, 2007 - Equipped with storage, manipulation, and retrieval algorithms for time-series data collection, 64-bit Historis database provides companies with analysis capabilities as well as infinite capacity for data management. Insertion rates reach 250,000+ records/sec, and extraction rates reach 220,000+ records/sec. While millisecond support allows precise data time-stamping, English-like query language (MQL) lets user ask questions concerning data without requiring computer programming.

LIM Unveils Historis 64-Bit Database

New Database offers faster speed, higher capacity, and improved analytics

CHICAGO, July 24 -- Data management solutions provider Logical Information Machines (LIM) has announced the 64-bit version of its Historis database. A significant upgrade from its 32-bit version, the new 64-bit Historis edition offers faster speeds, infinite capacity for data management, and improved analysis capabilities. By focusing exclusively on optimizing its storage, manipulation, and retrieval algorithms for time-series data, Historis provides capabilities far beyond those of standard relational databases.

"As the need for capturing time-series data increases, standard database solutions are becoming increasingly inadequate," said Tony Kolton, President and CEO, LIM. "Historis 64-Bit delivers the capabilities companies require to keep pace by exploiting the regularity inherent in time-series data to achieve the highest level of efficiency."

With capacity expanded to the 64-bit level, Historis handles virtually any size or speed of data collection. The database enables an insertion rate of more than 250,000 records per second and an extraction rate of more than 220,000 records per second.

Historis 64-Bit Key Features

The Historis 64-Bit Database enables companies in the energy, financial, fleet operations, healthcare, factory operations, and other industries that collect time-series information to reap the maximum benefits from their data. Key features include:

o 64-bit capacity that can handle virtually unlimited file sizes.

o Millisecond support, allowing data entering Historis to be time stamped at up to one thousandth of a second.

o English-like query language -- MQL -- enables the user to ask questions concerning data without requiring computer programming and allows the user to submit queries to the millisecond. Query language geared specifically toward time-series data allows users to easily make queries regarding dates and times that would be extremely difficult with SQL, if not impossible.

o Upgraded query language support, enabling queries on the millisecond level.

o Data compression that is orders of magnitude above standard database solutions, reducing required disk space for storage.

o Analysis tools XMIM and MIMIC, as well as links to popular analysis tools S-PLUS and MATLAB.

Availability

The Historis 64-Bit Database is now available worldwide for the SUN Server and LINUX platforms. For more information, please visit the Historis Web site http://www.historisdatabase.com/.
