Leading Radiofrequency Manufacturer Introduces a New Compact, Easy-to-Use, Portable RF Generator

MIDDLETON, Mass., July 19 / / -- NeuroTherm, Inc., a global leader in radiofrequency generators for chronic pain management, introduces a new economical, compact, easy-to-use, portable RF generator for the cost conscious and mobile practitioner.

"This small RF generator packs quite a big RF punch," says Larry Hicks, NeuroTherm president and CEO. "The NT500 is compact enough to tuck into just about any tight space. At the same time, it is a full-featured RF generator."

The NT500 offers conventional and pulsed RF lesion settings, allowing pain management physicians to choose the best therapy for their patients. It also provides standard sensory and motor nerve stimulation settings for verifying sensory and motor nerve location ensuring patient safety.

With its compact size and low cost, Hicks says, the NT500 is the right RF generator for small pain-management facilities as well as those with limited space. The NT500 can easily fit on a small tray in the procedure room, then tuck away when not in use.

"Moreover, the NT500 weighs less than 15 pounds," Hicks says. "This will be beneficial for physicians who perform RF procedures at multiple facilities." Physicians can use this low-cost generator as their personal RF generator, thus never having to worry whether the system at each facility is in proper working order or has the features they will need to treat their patients.

The NT500 replaces NeuroTherm's JK25/NT25 generator, which has been the highest selling RF generator globally since its introduction in 2003. "The JK25 RF Generator has been a successful product because of its intuitive, ease-to-use design," explains William Rittman, NeuroTherm Chief Technology Officer. "We updated its wildly popular features and shrunk them down into a much smaller package. But with the same product reliability and safety features."

As a result, the controls on the NT500 are even more intuitive. "Physicians who are new to RF lesioning will find the NT500 simple to learn," Rittman says. "Yet experienced pain-management physicians will realize that the NT500 meets their demanding needs."

Hicks adds, "Like its predecessor, we expect the NT500 to rapidly become the low-cost leader in RF generators."

NeuroTherm, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of radiofrequency generators and related consumables used in the treatment of chronic pain. The company recently introduced the NT1000, the world's first RF generator capable of producing three lesions simultaneously. NeuroTherm also pioneered the development and use of disposable electrodes in the U.K. market.

NeuroTherm is based in Middleton, MA., with another facility outside London, England. The company was formed in September 2005, as a concurrent acquisition of RDG Medical in the U.K., and RF Medical and Precision Medical Engineering in the U.S. by Cortec Group Fund III, L.P., an affiliate of Cortec Group, Inc.
