Hifn Launches Industry's First Data Center Replication Processor Delivering Cost-Effective Data Reduction and Security

The 4450 Provides a Storage Optimized Package that Boosts Bandwidth While Slashing Power Requirements

LOS GATOS, Calif., July 16 /- Hifn(TM) (NASDAQ:HIFN), the power behind network and information security, today announced the full availability and production of the 4450, the industry's first cost-effective, data center replication solution for data reduction and security. Designed to enable OEMs to quickly meet their enterprise customers' needs for secure storage infrastructure, the newest member to the company's FlowThrough(TM) security processor family enables zero-latency designs with up to three times the storage transaction performance while dramatically lowering cost, power and space requirements.

"With today's compliance requirements, no replication link should be unprotected. Remote user access to corporate networks is universally secured, and the replication of data should be no different," said Benjamin Woo, vice president, enterprise storage research for IDC. "Solutions like Hifn's 4450, that offer a means to reduce, manage, and secure data in one pass should be a compelling offering to the marketplace. Providing such functionality on a single chip that provides low latency, power, space, and cost, provides Hifn additional leverage in capitalizing on this market opportunity."

Targeted at high-performance data center and storage fabric applications, the 4450 ensures data security, integrity and simultaneous support for multiple security protocols. It offers the simplicity of a "bump-in-the-wire" architecture and provides support for Active-Active and Remote Data Facility replication.

"Data center customers are demanding data security, data integrity, and cost-effective management of storage resources," said Michael Goldgof, vice president of product marketing at Hifn. "With the 4450, Hifn is enabling storage infrastructure vendors to meet these demands by combining data compression and encryption in a single processor. This enables our customers to quickly bring to market solutions that securely deliver up to three times the storage data rates with dramatically lower space and power requirements. In addition, the aggressive pricing of the 4450 makes it both compelling and affordable, for the first time, to secure every data center replication link, everywhere in the world."

Hifn's 4450 security processor is the latest in a family of storage solutions that provide a platform for continuous data protection. The Hifn FlowThrough Architecture enables data reduction and security services directly in the data path and ensures high-performance, zero-latency processing in storage systems.

Availability and Pricing
Hifn's 4450 FlowThrough security processor for Active-Active Replication has already been designed in by some of the world's premier storage OEMs. The device is now generally available and in full production quantities. The 4450 is priced at $80 for OEM volume quantities. For more information, please contact Hifn at 408-399-3500 or sales@hifn.com.
