JUMPFLEX Modules Offer Unlimited Potential

Germantown, WI - June 2007 - A new family of 6mm-wide, DIN rail mount, signal conditioning and relay modules are available from WAGO Corporation. Designated the 857 Series, aka JUMPFLEX, the new modules offer a system approach to signal switching and conditioning.

"Today's factory automation and process control applications require conversion, isolation and transmission of many different signal types. With these requirements comes the challenge of managing signal types, maximizing panel space, reducing signal wiring and downtime, while controlling overall signal costs," explained Jim Bachle, Electrical Product Manager for WAGO Corporation. "The new 857 Series signal conditioners and relays meet this challenge and more."

The System

Housed in a "true" 6mm-wide package, the signal conditioning and relay modules also offer the same dimensional outline. In addition to pleasant control cabinet aesthetics, a common profile allows the sharing of accessories, such as jumpers (note: every wire entry has a corresponding jumper slot). The module's push-in jumper system, available in red, white and blue color designations and 2 to 10 pole configuration, facilitates both time and cost savings. An example of this is the ability to common 0V potential for a group of relays and signal conditioners, which eliminates the need for additional wiring.

Further system features include: pre-marked modules for easy circuit identification, marking tag holder for module identification, built-in indication for power or signal status, and CAGE CLAMPÒS wiring technology for fast, easy and maintenance-free wiring.

Signal Conditioners

The 857 Series signal conditioners consist of 12 different modules, both configurable and dedicated modules are available. Signal types supported include current, voltage, Hart protocol, RTDs and thermocouples. Configurations include splitter, single and multi-channel, repeater, as well as loop-powered modules. Configurable modules are programmed via dipswitch (for current, voltage, and temperature) and/or FDT/DTM software (temperature only). For example, the 857-400 (configurable isolation amplifier) offers up to 36 different signal combinations via dipswitch.

Additional features include: safe operation with 3-way isolation (2.5kV), accurate signal transmission with error <0.1% of full-scale value, built-in potentiometer for zero and span adjustment, extended operating temperature range of -25 to +70 degrees Celsius, as well as worldwide approvals including UL 508, CSA 22.2, and UL 1604 (pending).

Relay Modules

The 857 Series relay modules includes a growing line of pluggable relay types. Up to seven different modules offer a wide variety of AC/DC coil voltages and are capable of switching loads up to 250V and 5A. Pre-marked wiring points, as well as mechanical separation of the coil and load side, provide safe wiring. The relay modules are currently being testing to UL 508, CSA 22.2, and UL 1604.

WAGO is the worldwide leader in spring pressure connection technology designed to eliminate loose wires as a result of vibration and temperature cycling, as well as provide a highly reliable, corrosion-resistant, and maintenance-free connections. Our complete line of spring pressure connection products includes: DIN rail mount terminal blocks, chassis mount terminal blocks, PCB mount terminal blocks, relays, signal conditioners, power supplies, surge suppressors, the WAGO-I/O-SYSTEM and more.
