Video Compression Chip handles HD streaming images.

Allowing high-resolution surveillance image recording, CamCoder simultaneously encodes full size and quarter size streaming images. Chip features internal logic for user programmable motion detection and watermark insertion and has all required memory on-board. Interfacing directly to variety of CMOS Imagers from QVGA to 8-megapixels or higher, it also includes generic interrupt driven interface and internal FIFO buffering of compressed data steams.

Breakthrough for High Definition Image Compression Technology
TEMECULA, Calif., June 6 / / - Showlei Associates has announced its new CamCoder Video Compression chip that will dramatically lower the cost, power consumption and size for compression of High Definition Streaming Images. CamCoder can be used in a variety of applications and especially addresses the need for High Resolution Surveillance Image Recording. CamCoder simultaneously encodes 2 separate streaming images - Full Size and Quarter Size - of robust compression and very high quality. It also has internal logic for user programmable Motion Detection and Watermark insertion. CamCoder has all required memory on-board the chip.
CamCoder interfaces directly to a variety of CMOS Imagers from QVGA to very high resolution of 8-Megapixels or higher. Frame rate of streaming image compression is limited only by the clocking speed of the particular CMOS Imager used. Details of CamCoder can be viewed at http://www.showlei.net/
According to John Music, President, Showlei is known for proprietary Time Domain Video Codecs which lower chip transistor count by more than 10:1 compared to various MPEG designs. Coupling CamCoder directly to the CMOS Imager reduces system chip count while at the same time eliminates sources of noise and distortion. Eliminating external memory further reduces system cost and power consumption. CamCoder can be interfaced to a variety of external MPUs through a generic interrupt driven interface and has internal FIFO buffering of compressed data streams.
