Nuvoiz Launches Communicator 1.5

Standards-Based Software Enables Unified Communications Over 3G and WiFi

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., July 9 -- Nuvoiz, Inc., a start-up company developing standards-based, mobile unified communications applications, today unveiled a new version of its softphone called Nuvoiz Communicator 1.5. Available immediately, Nuvoiz Communicator 1.5 is an enterprise-class unified communications PC and PDA application that incorporates the critical VoIP, presence, instant messaging and real-time collaborative features sought by SMBs today. The main highlight of this version is the support of these features in 3G and WiFi networks thereby enabling a high level of mobility for workers. Nuvoiz Communicator is positioned at the burgeoning unified communications mid market.

The combination of 3G and WiFi support with Nuvoiz's NAT and firewall traversal technology enables Nuvoiz Communicator 1.5 to empower mobile workers by allowing them to stay connected to their office and co-workers when on the road. Voice calls can be made through 3G data networks or through lower cost WiFi networks. Instant messages, presence information, and file transfers can be sent and received over 3G data or WiFi as well.

Nuvoiz Communicator is SIP and XMPP compliant and interoperates with other SIP and XMPP solutions including IP PBXs, IVR systems, softphones, and instant messaging clients. Additionally, Nuvoiz Communicator combines a comprehensive set of options for NAT and firewall traversal to enable direct peer-to-peer communication. Unlike other NAT traversal solutions such as STUN, Nuvoiz's NAT and firewall technology requires zero configuration from end users and automatically discovers the network paths to make voice calls, which can be direct peer-to-peer or through media relaying.

Voice calls using Nuvoiz Communicator can be made to SIP addresses and PSTN numbers. These calls can be put on hold, transferred, or recorded. Concurrently, instant messages can be sent and received from XMPP peers (including Google Talk users) as well as synchronization of contact presence statuses.

Auto provisioning occurs each time a user logs in. A user's profile is automatically downloaded from the Nuvoiz Provisioning Server. Administrators can manage users centrally through this provisioning system.

Microsoft Outlook integration is provided through a click-to-call Outlook add-in. Users can call each Outlook contact by clicking on one button in the Outlook toolbar. Nuvoiz Communicator is also integrated with Web browsers by allowing users to call hyperlinked SIP addresses and PSTN numbers using Communicator.
