8-Channel Programmable Synchro/Resolver-to-Digital Converter Now Available on a Conduction-Cooled PMC Card

Bohemia NY -- North Atlantic Industries (NAI) has announced the availability of an 8-channel Synchro/Resolver-to-Digital Converter on a conduction-cooled PMC card. The high-density DSP-based 74SD3 includes 8 independent, programmable Synchro/Resolver tracking converter measurement channels. Each channel has 16-bit resolution, ±1 arc-minute accuracy, tracking rate to 150 RPS, accurate digital velocity output, and wrap-around self-test. Channel pairs can be programmed for any two-speed ratio between 2 and 255. The unit requires a single +5 Vdc (or +3.3 Vdc) power supply, operates over a frequency range of 60 Hz to 10 KHz, and has an autoranging input range from 2-28 Vrms. Each channel can be programmed individually for synchro or resolver operation and for a bandwidth setting up to 1,200 Hz. The 74SD3 synthetic reference compensates for up to ±60° phase shifts.

The 74SD3 provides continuous background Built-In-Test (BIT) on all functions and channels, including reference loss and signal loss detection. The BIT is totally transparent to the user, requires no programming, and doesn't interfere with the normal operation of the card. Each Synchro/Resolver-to-Digital Converter channel is self-calibrating, without requiring removal of the card. The 74SD3 PMC card is ideally suited for military and commercial programs.

The 74SD3 is available with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. Pricing for 100 pieces of the 74SD3 is $3158 each. Delivery starts at 12 weeks ARO.

"The 74SD3 provides our customers with a flexible Synchro/Resolver measurement PMC card that reduces size, complexity and cost," said Mike Oliveri, VP of Sales and Marketing at NAI. "They particularly like the high accuracy, continuous built-in-test, and digital velocity outputs."
