Penetrometer features automatic surface detection system.
July 10, 2007 -
PNR-12 penetrometer offers force measurement and conductivity for surface detection, which can be used together or independently to position test probe. It includes jog wheel that drives graphic menu, 3 buttons, and graphical interface, and performs standard and user-defined tests. Results can be directly outputted to printer or stored on memory stick via USB port, and unit can internally store last 200 test results and up to 10 user-defined tests.

PNR-12 Penetrometer from Petrotest Features Fully Automatic Surface Detection System
ALBANY, New York - The accuracy and repeatability of results from a penetrometer are highly dependent upon the operator's ability to position the test probe on the surface of a sample. The new PNR-12 penetrometer from Petrotest eliminates that variable by offering a fully automatic surface detection system. Automatic surface detection significantly improves the accuracy and efficiency of penetration tests. The PNR-12 offers two surface detection technologies-force measurement and conductivity-that can be used together or independently to precisely position the test probe, depending upon the test.
The PNR-12 performs both standard and user-defined tests and is equipped with a wide variety of test probes as required for a particular test method. The versatile instrument is ideal for testing asphalt/bitumen testing as well as soaps, rubber, waxes, foods, cosmetics and greases. In addition to its surface detection abilities, the PNR-12 offers users several significant operational improvements over previous versions of the pentrometer. Among those features is an intuitive interface consisting of a jog-wheel, three buttons and a large graphical interface. The jog-wheel drives the graphic menu (turn and push) and provides a precise means for manually positioning a test probe via stepper motor.
Audible and visual displays and alarms provide a clear indication of instrument status and test results. Results can be directly outputted to a printer or stored on a memory stick via a USB port. The PNR-12 can internally store the last 200 test results and up to 10 user-defined tests. An aluminum test table features leveling feet and is removable for testing large or oddly sized samples.
