Shell FM Grease HD 2; Specially Designed Grease for Food Processing Machinery

Houston - Food processing machinery requires a heavy-duty grease that can maintain proper bearing lubrication free from dust and contamination. Facilities such as those that produce animal feed and/or pet food require regular re-application of grease because they are challenged with developing quality feed in often extremely dusty conditions. The recently introduced Shell FM Grease HD 2 was specially designed to hold up to harsh production environments while also meeting the specific needs and requirements of the food industry.

Recommended for use in machinery that requires frequent re-application of grease, Shell FM Grease HD 2 provides excellent oxidation and mechanical stability and corrosion prevention characteristics. The strong adhesive properties of the grease provide exceptional washout resistance to hot and cold water. The formulation provides lubrication for: slow and medium speed plain and rolling element bearings; heavy- and shock-loaded applications; joints, linkages, and slides; plus overhead track systems. Additionally, Shell FM Grease HD 2 may be used as a protective anti-rust film and as a release agent on gaskets and seals of tank closures.

"Specialty machinery like pellet mills that produce animal feed and/or pet food require a heavy-duty, food-grade grease that can withstand contact with dust and residue," said Eddy Stempfel, Global Product Application Specialist. "Shell FM Grease HD 2 has excellent performance; we have seen in several cases no increase in grease consumption and maintenance costs when switching from conventional greases to Shell FM Grease HD 2."

Hendrix UTD uses Shell FM Grease HD 2 in all pellet mills and pre-mixers/conditioners. The company has endorsed Shell FM Grease HD 2 for use in California Pellet Mill Co. (CPM), PTN (Pelleting Technology Netherland) and UMT (Universal Milling Technology) pellet press applications. Shell FM Grease HD 2 has received original equipment manufacturer (OEM) approvals from Amandus Kahl, CPM, Cerestar and others.

Shell FM Grease HD 2 is neutral in taste, smell and color. The grease is Kosher and Halal certified, does not contain any natural products derived from nuts or genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and is registered by NSF (Class H1) for use where there is potential for incidental food contact. This product contains only substances permitted under US 21 CFR 178.3570, 178.3620 and 182 for use in lubricants with incidental food contact. It also meets the former guidelines (1998) of the US Department of Agriculture for Food Safety and Inspection Service (USDA) for H1. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration maintains that food-grade lubricants are harmless if accidentally consumed below the maximum level of 10 parts per million (ppm). The FDA has zero tolerance for nonfood-grade lubricants.
