Digital Load Sensors include USB output.

June 8, 2007 - Based on capacitive sensing technology, iLoad Series combines load or force sensing function with integrated computing and communications modules to offer Plug-and-Sense operation. Units plug directly into USB port of PC and enable user to measure loads, forces, or weights without additional signal conditioning, data acquisition, or special software. Offered in 10, 50, 100, 250, and 500 lb capacities, sensors measure compressive and tensile loads with accuracies of 0.25-0.025% FS.

Loadstar Sensors Introduces iLoad

Digital Load Sensors with USB Output

Plug and Sense Simplicity with Digital Perfection

Loadstar Sensors, Inc. of Mountain View announces the immediate availability of the iLoad Series of digital load/force sensors based on its patented capacitive sensing technology. These sensors combine the core load or force sensing function with integrated computing and communications modules to offer Plug and Sense simplicity and unprecedented ease of use in a rugged, low profile package.

The iLoad Digital USB sensor is the world's first capacitive load sensor with USB output. These load sensors are designed to plug directly into the USB port of a PC and enable users to measure loads, forces or weights without need for any additional signal conditioning, data acquisition or special software. The sensor appears as a virtual COM port on a PC enabling a user to directly read data using simple ASCII commands with any terminal emulator such as HyperTerminal. In order to make this process even simpler, Loadstar offers LoadVUE Lite software that takes care of all communication functions and displays loads in lbs, Kgs or Newtons.

"We are delighted to bring to market the iLoad Series of load sensors - a truly differentiated product that allows users to plug into a PC's USB port and start measuring loads, forces and weights with ease." said Div Harish, the Co-Founder and CEO of Loadstar Sensors. "Communication features integrated within the sensor enable a whole new set of computerized applications that were not possible earlier."added Harish.

For users who need an analog output, we offer the iLoad Analog sensor which is built on the same digital platform as the digital USB version but is designed to interface directly to a Programmable Logic Controller ("PLC") or Data Acquisition system("DAQ"). The iLoad Analog sensor offers a linear, 0.5-4.5V DC output proportional to applied loads. No expensive amplification or signal conditioning is required because all electronics are built into the self-contained integrated sensor.

The iLoad Series is available immediately in 10, 50, 100, 250 and 500 lb capacities to measure both compressive and tensile loads and offer accuracies of 0.25% to 0.025% of full scale loads. Higher capacities up to 15,000 lbs are expected to be released in the coming months but are available earlier as a special order.

Furthermore, temperature compensation schemes are built-in for temperatures ranging between -10C to 40C in order to be accurate in most operating conditions with a "tare". These sensors are attractively priced and come with a 30 day money back guarantee to allow inventors, engineers, product designers, students and researchers to try out our innovative new products and experience the dramatic difference first hand!

Key features of the iLoad Series include:
- Flexible output options-either Digital USB or Analog 0-5V DC
- Integrated signal conditioning
- Accuracies from 0.25% FS to 0.025% FS
- Tensile and compressive measurements
- Rugged low profile, stainless steel (17-4 PH) package
- Easy mounting with threaded holes or studs
- Attractively priced in either single piece or OEM quantities.

About Loadstar Sensors, Inc.
Established in 2004, Loadstar Sensors, Inc. is a leader in the design and manufacture of capacitive sensors for automotive, aerospace, medical device, industrial and consumer applications. We currently sell capacitive load (force/weight) sensors that offer high sensitivities in an easy to use, mechanically robust, low profile package. We partner with leading OEMs to incorporate load sensors into mass market products where existing load measurement solutions were neither reliable nor economically feasible.
