Komatsu America Corp. Launches New Hydraulic Excavator
Rolling Meadows, IL, April 25, 2007 - Komatsu America Corp. announces the introduction of the brand new PC138USLC-8 short tail swing excavator that is distinguished in technology, long-term reliability, operator comfort, and machine operation. The powerful excavator has a net horsepower of 92 HP and an operating weight of 31,107 to 32,568 pounds.
Special features of the PC138USLC-8 include:
Improved Productivity and Performance
The new SAA4D95LE-5 common rail injection engine was developed to increase power and lower emissions as compared to the previous PC138USLC-2. The improved engine performance utilizes an electronic multi-staged fuel injection system and isochronous control that maintains engine speed during heavy loads. The engine is EPA Tier 3 emissions regulations ready while increasing power and machine productivity.
The PC138USLC-8 features increased lift capacity compared to the PC120LC-6 conventional-type excavator, providing excellent lifting power and stability, while reducing the tail-swing radius by 27%.
Hydraulic System Complements Efficiency
Significant improvements to the hydraulic system greatly enhance the productivity and efficiency of the PC138USLC-8 excavator. The new single pump double-flow system and pump flow merge divide valve improves swing acceleration and steering performance.
Large Multi-Color Monitor
The easy-to-view 7" monitor enables accurate smooth work and displays data in 12 languages for global support. The multi-function color monitor has a Power Mode, Economy Mode, Lifting Mode, Breaker Operation and Attachment Mode. The monitor panel also displays the automatic air conditioner, machine maintenance, and images from the standard-equipped counterweight camera.
Excellent Attachment Support
The PC138USLC-8 offers fingertip command of two different breaker and attachment flow selections, providing a total of four flow settings. Each flow setting can be easily adjusted to match the demand of the attachment on hand.
Work equipment utilizes castings designed with unique geometry to provide excellent durability and support of attachments.
Newly Designed Cab
Komatsu's continual dedication to improve operator comfort ensures high levels of operator productivity and efficiency. A new hydraulic excavator cab design gains reinforced strength from the pipe-structured cab framework.
The pressurized cab with a new automatic air conditioner combined with low noise and vibration provides for operator comfort. In addition, the high-back seat and a larger cab with ample leg space results in maximum comfort. The PC138USLC-8 is distinguished by its low cab protrusion. The cab's contoured front end corners allow it to clear in the same area as the counterweight and work very tight in confined areas.
Long-Term Reliability
Exclusive high pressure in-line filters are installed at the pump discharge ports. In addition to the main return filters, the in-line filters provide for an additional level of hydraulic system protection.
Komatsu's EMMS (Equipment Management Monitoring System) tracks the preventative maintenance schedule by providing on-board warning as required maintenance becomes due. Error codes and troubleshooting assistance are available at the EMMS display minimizing diagnosis and repair time.
The PC138USLC-8 is also standard-equipped with the latest Komtrax(TM) technology that sends machine operating information to a secure website utilizing wireless technology. Data such as operating hours, location, cautions and maintenance alerts are relayed to the web application for analysis. The Komtrax(TM) fleet monitoring system increases machine availability, reduces the risk of machine theft, allows for remote diagnosis by the distributor, and provides a wealth of other information to drive business productivity efficiently.
Increased Job Scope
Optional blade and roadliner track pads make the PC138USLC-8 a very versatile machine in various applications.
