LAS VEGAS, May 22 -- ATEN Technology, Inc., an innovator of high-quality KVM (keyboard/video/mouse) and remote connectivity products to centrally manage servers, network devices and IT infrastructure, today announced here at Interop Las Vegas 2007 the KH98, a new 8-port KVM switch that is the industry's first KVM switch to feature Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) 2.0 monitoring from a single console. Available today, the KH98 IPMI KVM switch is priced competitively at $499.95.
IPMI stands for Intelligent Platform Management Interface. It defines a standardized, message-based interface for easy management of a large number of servers as well as standardized records for describing platform management devices and their characteristics. IPMI provides an intelligent means for extensive monitoring, control, and automatic recovery of servers. The standard is applicable across a range of server topologies and operating systems.
"Our new KH98 reduces the anxieties that network administrator's experience with critical data center issues. The device's built-in IPMI controller monitors the sensors inside servers and reports any abnormal health conditions such as a faulty CPU fan before it becomes a bigger problem," said Miranda Su, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, ATEN Technology. "An ounce of prevention goes far with this new IPMI KVM and it will play a pivotal role in maintaining data center continuity before issues arise."
The KH98 provides a cost-effective tool to manage and maintain a data center infrastructure. A single KH98 can manage up to eight computers. Through efficient cascading, up to 73 KH98 units can be connected to control and monitor 512 computers -- all from a single console. The KH98 can also monitor the health of up to 512 IPMI-enabled servers over LAN, and provides maintenance tools such as system reset and power on/off.
