New VA3X Vision Appliances Provides Additional Performance and Image Resolution for Single or Dual Camera Applications

BILLERICA, MA (May 16, 2007) - DALSA today announced the release of the IPD VA3X, the latest products in the company's line of machine Vision Appliances. Housed in compact, DIN mountable enclosures, the VA3X products provide quick user setup, factory friendly wiring and support for one or two cameras with choice of sensor resolution.

"The VA3X offers over twice the performance of our popular VA2X products," says Steve Geraghty, Director of DALSA IPD. "We've upgraded the processor and system resources to support applications that demand higher throughput or greater image resolution. The VA3X is footprint, software and electrically compatible with the VA2X, providing familiar compact solutions that are quick to configure and easy to interface."

Available in two versions, the VA3X offers users choice and flexibility to satisfy their near and long-term application needs. The VA30 comes complete with our popular easy-to-use iNspect software, while the sister VA31 version additionally includes Sherlock, the ultimate machine vision software for industry. This unrivaled combination delivers the user interface, performance and flexibility needs to satisfy the diverse requirements of end users and machine vision integrators alike.

As with the VA2X products, the VA3X incorporates the "smarts" inside the camera controller, as opposed to the camera head. This allows users to position it alongside other automation controllers for easy interfacing and have the benefit of small camera heads for easy mounting. The dual camera capability of the product also provides significant cost savings in multi-camera applications.

The VA30 comes with software preinstalled on the device, thus eliminating version control problems. The iNspect application interface is exposed through a standard web browser on a connecting network computer, thus providing "connect and go" capability. The device is equipped with a Gigabit compliant network connection that allows a real-time image feed to the web browser. Alternatively, for users who prefer in-place setup, the VA31 offers the ability to connect keyboard, mouse and monitor directly to the unit.

Fully equipped with industrial grade I/O and external connections conveniently located on the front of the unit, the VA3X makes electrical interfacing a snap. The devices include status lights for every input and output connection to help application debugging. On the sensor side, the VA3X provides users with the resolution choice they need to satisfy a wide range of inspection tasks, from presence and absence to high-precision measurements. Standard supported sensor resolutions are 640x480 and 1024x768; however, higher resolutions to 1600x1200 are possible.

The VA3X provides machine vision integrators and end users with a solution built to their specification. It offers the ease-of-use, performance and flexibility to satisfy a wide range of current and future application needs. Pricing of the VA3X with standard resolution sensor starts at $3,795.
