Hybrid DVRs employ HDDs and flash media.

June 5, 2007 - HDD-based GV-DVR system S (standard), H (hot swap), and M (mini) series are available with optional flash storage product, GV-DOM (Disk on Module). While HDD preserves all video contents, flash device stores Windows XP Embedded OS and GeoVision's surveillance software. GV-DOM provides over 5 million write/erase cycles and transparent bad-block management. It is resistant to mechanical shock and vibration and guarantees data integrity, even after power loss.

GeoVision Introduces GV-DOM as Optional Flash Memory

Taipei Taiwan May 11, 2007

GeoVision Inc. today announced a new flash product named GV-DOM (Disk on Module) as optional storage for GV-DVR systems. The GV-DOM will mainly be used to store the GV-DVR system's Windows XP Embedded operating system and GeoVision's surveillance software, while the HDD will continue to preserve video contents. The hybrid technologies in storage devices have made it possible to combine HDD and DOM in a GV-DVR system to further optimize the system's performance.

DOM, or known as flash storage device, has become a viable alternative to HDD thanks to the good performance in stability, better heat dissipation, and less power consumption compared to HDD. DOM can resist shock and vibration and thus reducing the risk of damage. Nevertheless in the applications that require large amounts of storage, HDD remain applicable as a storage solution with its improvements in high capacities with good performance and competitive pricing. GeoVision utilizes the hybrid benefits of HDD and DOM and introduce the GV-DOM as an integrated flash storage device for the GV-DVR system.

Some hybrid benefits of the GV-DOM used for HDD-based GV-DVR system include:

o More stable system environment, lower damage rate and longer life (higher MTBF ratings around 4,130,674 hours)

o Less power consumption and better heat dissipation performance

o Operating temperature 0°C to +70°C / Storage temperature: -55°C to +95°C

o Provides more than 5 million write/erase cycles for reliable data storage over an extended period

o Guaranteed data integrity even after power loss

o Transparent bad-block management

o Anti-Vibration: 10 Hz to 500 Hz, 5 g, 3 axes, 30 minutes

o Mechanical Shock Duration: 11 ms, 50 g, 3 axes, 18 times

The GV-DOM is designed to work with GeoVision's GV-DVR system and only sold with GV-DVR system S (standard)/ H (hot swap)/ M (mini) series.
