Enhanced Speed Oce VarioStream® 9000 Printer 60 Percent Faster
High performance version ideal for high-volume black and white applications
BOSTON, April 17 -- Oce (NASDAQ:OCENY), a global leader in digital document management and delivery solutions, announces the introduction of a new high performance member of the Oce VarioStream(R) 9000 family. The new enhanced speed Oce VarioStream 9000 version can print black- only pages at 1,350 per minute -- 60 percent faster than the existing version.
"Oce recognizes the market need for high speed and high quality within tight print windows. Customers have traditionally had to compromise and decide on speed or quality. Now with the enhanced speed Oce VarioStream 9000 offering, they can have both. With this speed enhancement, customers can drive even more value from their investment in the highly flexible Oce VarioStream 9000 platform," said Joyce Virnich, Vice President of Marketing, Oce North America Commercial Printing Division.
The new version maintains the remarkable versatility of the Oce VarioStream 9000 platform. In addition to black-only pages at 1350 prints per minute, the system will print 2/2 and 3/3 output at their current speeds. The Graphic Arts Plus mode is also available at regular speeds for increased graphic quality. As a result, Oce offers more choices for service bureaus, print service providers and in-house print rooms for transaction, transpromo, graphic arts, direct mail and other applications. Customers benefit from the unique Oce Job Appropriate Color(TM) strategy to achieve the best balance of color and speed. Oce PRISMA(TM) workflow software complements the Oce VarioStream 9000 platform with capabilities for pre-press, document design, interoperability, job management and more.

The Oce VarioStream 9000 line features single pass duplexing, a migration path to color, and in its Graphic Arts Plus configuration, delivers superior print quality for publishing applications. The versatile continuous-fed digital press series lets customers start by investing in a basic solution and gradually expanding it as their requirements evolve. Another added-value feature of the Oce VarioStream 9000 series is GraphicArtsplus(TM) dot modulation, a special imaging technique which delivers brilliantly sharp reproduction for black and white images by varying the luminescence of each LED -- over 11,000 in all -- in the image generator. The outcome: images can be printed with much more photorealism. Printers can be upgraded on-site with functions such as Oce CustomTone technology giving customers utmost security for their investment and maximum flexibility.
