New Siemens HMI for Provox* Systems Delivers S88 Functionality

SPRING HOUSE, Pa., April 9, 2007 - Siemens Energy & Automation, Inc. introduces SIMATIC PCS7 / PVX OS HMI, a new human machine interface (HMI) to modernize existing Emerson PROVOX* systems. Available for both batch and continuous applications, the new HMI provides the benefits of redundant S88 batch management - without the need to change existing PROVOX controller hardware and configuration.

By upgrading the original PROVOX* HMI to the SIMATIC PCS 7 / PVX OS HMI process plants can maximize their ROA, reduce time to market, and increase throughput. The existing PROVOX* controller and controller configuration is left untouched during the migration thereby minimizing revalidation costs and allowing the upgrade to be performed while the system is still online.

Enhanced security features, including electronic signature for 21 CFR Part 11 compliance and electronic batch records, make validation easier and further reduces time to market. The PCS 7 /PVX OS HMI automatically generates tags from the controller configuration and comes standard with symbols and faceplates designed specifically for PROVOX* point types. Other features of the PCS 7 / PVX OS HMI include the capability to graphically monitor batch executions, fast recipe creation and editing, and the flexibility to modify batch parameters during runtime, all using the optional redundant batch manager.
