Hoffman Designs New Stainless Steel Cable Tray With Unique Slope-Top Design
New Product Features Quicker Installation, Cleaner Washdowns and Faster Inspections
Anoka, MN - April 9, 2007 - Hoffman's new Stainless Steel Cable Tray, made of Type 304 stainless steel for corrosion resistance and designed to protect washdown-rated cabling from dust, water or other liquids, is available today. It is primarily for use in packaging and/or bottling operations in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries, but would be suitable in many other areas, including processing.
"We've designed the new cable tray with our customers' needs in mind to help ease their workload in several ways. First, we've reduced the product assembly and installation time by 50% by including self-aligning fittings and less hardware. Also, instead of the typical 'peaked roof' configuration, our 20-degree sloped cover fits flush against the wall or machinery, facilitating one-side runoff and eliminating crevices where runoff and bacteria can collect," said Mark Saunders, Hoffman product manager. "This provides faster tray surface visual checks and easier maintenance.
All straight sections and fittings can be completely opened from the top or on one side, so cabling can be laid along the entire cable tray run, eliminating the need to "pull through" wires. The complete selection is available in five sizes.
The Stainless Steel Cable Tray is made of 18-gauge stainless steel with quarter-turn latches and is UL Type 1 rated. It is available with a flat cover or 20-degree sloped cover. Designed with perforations in the bottom of fittings and straight sections, it allows water drainage after washdown.
"Since this product might be used on conveyor systems, we accounted for breakage on the line that can spill liquids into cable trays," noted Saunders. "The perforated bottom lets liquids easily drip through."
