Surveillance Radar protects perimeters from intruders.
April 24, 2007 -
Scanning full 360° every second, Model STS-1400 can accurately detect personnel and vehicles at up to 1,400 m. Unit operates in any climate, weather, or lighting condition to provide 24/7 security over 2.3 sq mile area. Device directly controls surveillance cameras, pointing them toward intrusion to allow video identification. Measuring 17 x 13 in., radar is suited for protecting military forces, airports, ports, borders, and other public infrastructure assets.
LAS VEGAS, March 28 /- ICx Technologies, a provider of advanced technology solutions for homeland and military security, announced today the availability of its Perimeter Surveillance Radar model STS-1400. The radar solution, manufactured by the ICx Radar Systems business unit, will be showcased at the ICx booth number 32003 at the ISC West Expo in Las Vegas from March 28-30.
The STS-1400 is a high-resolution radar that accurately detects personnel and vehicles at up to 1400 meters range. It scans a full 360 degrees every second in any climate, weather, or lighting condition to provide 24/7 security over a 2.3 sq. mi. (6 sq. km.) area. Moreover, the STS-1400 directly controls surveillance cameras, pointing them toward the intrusion to allow video identification.
The STS-1400 is designed to detect and track intruders as part of a wide area surveillance solution for protecting military forces, airports, ports, borders and other sites, facilities and public infrastructure assets. The US Army was the first customer to purchase the radar for its IBOC program. The first units are set to be deployed at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas.
"We are excited to be among the first users of the STS-1400 Perimeter Surveillance Radar from ICx Radar Systems," said Jeff Basilotta, Program Manager of the Integrated Base Operations Center (IBOC) program at Ft- Leavenworth, Kansas. "We expect it to contribute significantly to the IBOC project by providing early detection of potential intruders."
IBOC is a base protection and monitoring demonstration testbed and forms part of the Global Information Grid (GIG) imitative of the DoD as well advancing the art of anti-terrorism/force protection (AT/FP).
Each STS-1400 unit weighs slightly more than 20 pounds and is just 17 inches in diameter and 13 inches tall, making it a candidate for future mobile and portable versions. The STS-1400 has been in development since early 2005. It is interoperable with other radar systems, including the STS-350 and the longer-range STS-12000 radars (formerly known as PSRS and RDTS, respectively). ICx Radar Systems offers surveillance radars in several ranges from 350 meters to 12,000 meters.
