Surface-Mount MLCC offers flex-robust solution.

April 20, 2007 - Offered in case sizes from EIA 0402-1812 with rated voltages from 6.3-250 Vdc, FE-CAP utilizes floating internal electrode design, wherein electrodes are configured to form multiple capacitors in series within one package. This promotes voltage and ESD performance while mitigating risk of low-IR or short-circuit failures caused by board flex. Multilayer ceramic capacitor features X7R dielectric and operates over -55 to +125°C range.

FE-CAP Now Part of KEMET's Multilayer Ceramic Capacitor Flex-Robust Portfolio

New Capacitors Boost SMD Line

Greenville, South Carolina (March 29, 2007) - KEMET Corporation (NYSE:KEM) continues to offer customers more choices and superior performance for their capacitor needs with the launch of its FE-CAP line.

The FE-CAP utilizes a floating internal electrode design, wherein the electrodes are configured to form multiple capacitors in series within a single package. This not only yields improved voltage and ESD performance over standard designs, but also mitigates the risk of low-IR or short-circuit failures that can occur due to board flex.

"Innovation, quality, and improved overall performance are what customers have come to expect from KEMET," says Corey Antoniades, Associate Product Manager, Ceramic Business Unit. "The FE-CAP offering now gives customers more choices when it comes to flex-robust designs and solutions."

The FE-CAP is being offered in case sizes ranging from EIA 0402 to EIA 1812 with rated voltages ranging from 6.3VDC to 250VDC. Combined with the stability of an X7R dielectric, the FE-CAP offers customers a flex-robust solution at low- to mid-range capacitance values and an operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C with zero bias capacitance shift limited to ±15% over that range. Capacitance tolerances offered include J(±5%), K(±10%) and M(±20%).

All FE-CAP products meet the requirements of the Automotive Electronics Council's AEC-Q200-Rev C and come with 100% pure matte, tin-plated terminations for superior solderability.

FE-CAPs will range in cost from $.04 to $.60.

KEMET Corporation provides industry-leading, high-performance capacitance solutions, including the world's most complete line of surface-mount capacitor technologies across tantalum, ceramic and solid aluminum dielectrics-along with the world's best quality, delivery and service.

KEMET's common stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol KEM. KEMET is an ISO 9001:2000 and ISO/TS 16949:2002 registered company.
