Imaging System optimizes read rates across mail types.

April 5, 2007 - Designed to minimize lens distortion, PureOPTICS for PureVISION optical character reader, incorporates automatic light intensity control, allowing it to compensate for variations in transport speeds. Combined with optical encoder, system produces consistent output from camera, enabling mail piece to be read accurately. LED arrays produce consistent and uniform light output for lifespan of array, while on-board diagnostics facilitate problem identification.

OPEX Introduces PureOPTICS Imaging System Advancement for PureVISION Software

IRVING, Texas, March 19 /-- OPEX announces the release of PureOPTICS, an advanced imaging system for PureVISION that facilitates better read rates across a greater diversity of mail types.

PureOPTICS is designed to decrease lens distortion and make camera calibration a straightforward process. This new imaging system incorporates automatic light intensity control, allowing it to compensate for variations in transport speeds. Combined with an optical encoder, PureOPTICS produces consistent output from the camera and reduces image noise and distortion, making it easier for a mail piece to be read accurately.

An additional benefit of PureOPTICS is a reduction in the amount of required machine maintenance. The LED arrays produce a consistent and uniform light output for the lifespan of the array, which is typically years as opposed to weeks with current incandescent systems.

There is also a significant decrease in power usage and heat output. The self-contained module is easier to install, and on-board diagnostics enhance problem identification by using simple status indicators on the camera assembly.

The PureOPTICS imaging system will be a standard feature on all new PureVISION systems, and will be available as an upgrade to existing PureVISION customers.
