Polygon Reducer compresses 3D models without loss of detail.

April 3, 2007 - VizUp Reducer Enterprise v2.3 balances detail and file size to simplify large 3D models converted from CAD/CAM/CAE. Once model is imported, user chooses desired level of polygon reduction, and model optimization is performed automatically. Used to achieve optimal balance between maintaining necessary model detail and file size, solution offers batch mode reduction operation, option to not have to set any parameters manually, and support of Poser 7 .obj output models.

Enterprise Tool Works Great with Very Large 3D Models

VizUp Technology unveils a polygon reducer that balances detail and file size to simplify very large 3D models that have been converted from CAD/CAM/CAE.

VANCOUVER, Canada. - March 7, 2007: VizUp Technology today announces the unveiling of VizUp Reducer Enterprise 2.3. VizUp Reducer helps you achieve an optimal balance between maintaining the necessary detail in a model and a file size that is sufficiently compact that users can download it in a reasonable amount of time.

The application is very simple to use and requires no arcane knowledge to operate. Import your model and simply choose the level of polygon reduction from buttons located just above the viewing area of the application. Then choose the Reduce option from the pull-down menu. Model optimization is performed automatically.

VizUp Reducer Enterprise offers a batch mode reduction operation that allows you to perform model optimization according to a set of parameters for all files in a specified folder - a very useful capability when you're working with a large number of models. "Join similar in material shapes" and "Join adjoining shapes" options is now available in Batch Mode.

You have an option not to set any parameters manually, in which case VizUp Reducer will automatically pick the most suitable ones for your particular model. You can save polygon-reduced models in the VIZUP file format, which retains the relevant reduction information so you can revisit the file later if you need a different reduction percentage for another purpose; you don't have to convert the model again unless the original has changed. The process of optimization results in the deletion of some vertices, but it does not change the coordinates of the remaining vertices, resulting in minimal distortions during texture mapping.

What's New in Version 2.3?
Improved support of Poser 7 .obj output models.
Wavefront OBJ file format is open and has been adopted by other 3D graphics application vendors and can be imported/exported from e-Frontier's Poser, Autodesk's Maya, Blender, Misfit Model 3D and 3D Studio Max, Hexagon, Newtek Lightwave, etc.

Pricing and Availability
VizUp Reducer Enterprise runs under Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP/2003. The product is distributed as an Enterprise edition optimized for very large models, $1495 (USD). It can be securely purchased via VizUp's online store at http://www.vizup.com/store/index.html. Registered customers are entitled to updates with discounts and technical support. Additional information on VizUp Reducer Enterprise, as well as its evaluation version with a disabled Save option is available from http://www.vizup.com.
