Unshrouded header system series, STL family, is offered in single- or double-row versions, multiple connection lengths, and various termination types (press-fit, dip-solder, THR) as well as right-angle versions. Based on 0.025 x 0.025 in. pin standard, male multipoint connectors are designed to enable sturdy board-to-board connections. Along with electric function, connection can also simultaneously handle mechanical strain when appropriate number of contacts are employed.

ERNI Electronics Offers Double-Sided Press-Fit Contacts for Mezzanine Applications
Provides Tailored, Sturdy Connections
ADELBERG, GERMANY - March 12, 2007 - ERNI Electronics offers an extensive portfolio of connectors from its unshrouded header system series (STL family). The single- or double-row versions are available in many different connection lengths and termination types (press-fit, dip-solder, THR), as well as right-angle versions. These male multipoint connectors are based on the widely used 0.025" x 0.025" (0.635 x 0.635 mm) pin standard, and can be combined with a variety of other products that comply with these specifications.
ERNI has developed an easy-to-use and reliable solution, designed specifically to enable efficient and sturdy board-to-board connections. It is particularly suited for use in mezzanine circuit boards, which require unshrouded headers with a 0.100" (2.54-mm) pitch and stamped press-fit zones on both sides. This eliminates the need for a cable connection or an indirect connector link.
Besides the electric function, this connection can also simultaneously handle mechanical strain when an appropriate number of contacts are employed. The connection is permanent, robust, vibration-resistant and insensitive to dirt and grime. For deployment in extremely harsh environments, it is even possible to pot the connector, including the press-fit zones. The cost per connection is relatively low, and customer-specific adaptations, such as partial loading, present no difficulty thanks to the intelligent configuration of the production equipment. The unshrouded headers can be processed flexibly and economically. Different pin lengths make it possible to achieve the required distances between PCBs, and additional insulating bodies stabilize the pin headers when greater distances are required.
Single-row unshrouded headers are available with pin counts of 50 (1 x 50) or as press-fit versions with up to 36 pins (1 x 36). Double-row unshrouded headers are available with up to 100 pins (2 x 50) or as press-fit versions with up to 72 pins (2 x 36). For a complete overview of the options, ERNI has published a new catalog, which is available for download at http://www.erni.com/DB/PDF/STL-BUL/ER....
