Ferraz Shawmut Finger-Safe Power Distribution Blocks Now UL-Approved for 100kA

Another Breakthrough Innovation from the Leader in "Finger-Safe" Circuit Protection

Newburyport, Mass., Feb. 23, 2007 - Ferraz Shawmut, a global leader in the field of circuit protection, recently announced an update to its line of Finger-Safe Power Distribution Blocks (FSPDBs). Designed in response to the industry's growing demand for safer electrical panels, the FSPDB product line now meets a 100kA short circuit current rating (SCCR) per UL 1059. The FSPDBs also meet the requirements of IEC 529 and provide the IP-20 grade "finger-safe" protection today's safety-conscious end users and stringent international standards demand.

Ferraz Shawmut offers a full range of "finger-safe" components - from its popular ULTRASAFE(TM) fuse holders to its Socomec line of disconnect switches. In addition to improving the safety of the end user environment, these products simplify installation and reduce unnecessary costs by eliminating the need for mounting plexiglass sheets to cover the entire panel. Panel builder and end user inventories and costs are further reduced by the FSPDB's ability to replace multiple configurations of today's open-style blocks.

"Ferraz Shawmut continues to deliver the forward-thinking solutions that make safer and simpler electrical panels a reality," said Bob Minkle, product manager for Ferraz Shawmut. "Achieving a 100kA SCCR for our FSPDBs demonstrates our commitment to constantly improving power distribution block design. The FSPDBs are also preferred by electrical panel shops to meet the latest NEC and UL508A requirements."

Ferraz Shawmut FSPDBs are DIN rail mountable and feature compact footprints, captive termination screws and multiple openings to accommodate a wide range of wire sizes. Additional options allow users to create multiple-pole units, cover unused wire openings and identify circuit details on the block itself. UL and CSA approvals and the CE Mark ensure acceptance throughout the global marketplace.
