IRVINE, Calif., Feb. 26 -- Linksys(R), a Division of Cisco Systems, Inc., and the recognized leading global manufacturer of voice, wireless, and networking hardware for home, Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) and the small business user, today announced its first line of small business network attached storage solutions. This new line of Small Business Network Storage Systems (NSS) includes the:
-- 4 Bay Advanced Gigabit Network Storage System Chassis (NSS6000)

-- 4 Bay Gigabit Network Storage System Chassis With 1.0TB RAID (NSS4100).
"Built specifically for the small business, these robust, easy-to-use storage systems were designed with data protection and expansion in mind," said David Tucker, senior director of product marketing, Connected Office Business Organization, Linksys. "Each NSS offers a small business the ability to select the storage configuration that best addresses its model with management features that help provide data integrity, file protection, security, and reliability at a fraction of the cost of other available options."
NSS4000 and NSS6000
Linksys Small Business Network Storage Systems chassis do not include hard drives, so the small business can choose the capacity that best addresses its business needs. Installation is quick and easy with no installation CD required. Linksys does not place proprietary code or drivers on the hard drives, enabling easy "hot swapping" or interchanging of the drives.
On-disc file encryption makes highly secure offsite backup, archiving, and data migration possible for small businesses with stringent requirements for data integrity, such as healthcare, law offices, or accounting firms. Additional options like Journaling, Hot Spares, RAID Set Failure Handling, and Redundant Power Supply Units (RPSU) provide an added level of superior data integrity.
The NSS4000 and NSS6000 are designed to help deliver a robust array of advanced features typically missing from an affordable small business storage solution:
-- RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 1 + Spare, RAID 5, RAID 5 + Spare, RAID 10, and JBOD capabilities
-- Self-Monitoring Analysis and Reporting Technology (SMART)
-- On-disc File Encryption allowing for highly secure offsite backup and archiving or data migration
-- 802.1p, 802.1q, QoS and Cable Diagnostic Enterprise LAN features
-- Disk Failure Locator LEDs that help ensure replacement of proper drive in stack
-- Intelligent Hard drive Spin Up/Down support and control
-- Network Snap Shot for data recovery*
-- Data aggregation over the network*
-- Up to 15 simultaneous user connections (Windows/MAC via CIFS) with NSS4000 and up to 75 simultaneous user connections (Windows/MAC via CIFS) with NSS6000
