Ferraz Shawmut Introduces New Ultrasafe Fuse Modules
Module's 45mm width is ideal for replacing circuit breakers in motor starters
Newburyport, Mass., Feb. 13, 2007 - Ferraz Shawmut, a global leader in the field of circuit protection, today announced the availability of its new 600 Volt ULTRASAFE(TM) Fuse Modules, with a compact design suited for use with 45mm-wide IEC contactors. These 3-pole fuse modules offer quick, easy, finger-safe fuse changes with additional features not found on other Class CC and midget Ultrasafe fuse holders.
Ferraz Shawmut designed the Ultrasafe Fuse Modules primarily to replace circuit breakers in motor starters for superior short circuit current ratings (SCCRs), and each module includes an auxiliary contact option for increased user protection. The auxiliary is wired to an adjacent contactor, and the contactor drops the load upon opening the fuse extractor handle. Each module also features compact busbars for line side terminations.
"The 45mm width is ideal for direct coupling to IEC style starters, but these have a variety of other uses," said Bob Minkle, product manager at Ferraz Shawmut. "Other applications include circuits up to 600 volts for control circuits and transformers. The modules can also serve as non-load disconnects, and they can be padlocked in the "open" position with a ¼-inch shank diameter."
The fuse modules still incorporate well-known Ultrasafe features such as IP20 protection, easy operating fuse extraction handles and optional open fuse indicator lights. All Ultrasafe Fuse Modules meet the requirements of UL 512.
