Metalworking Tools create burr-free contours and parts.
February 28, 2007 -
Working with punching machine, roller deburring tool and 3-way deburring MultiTool negate need for separate manual deburring stage and displace any burr by chamfering sharp edges (~0.004 in.) on underside of part. Roller deburring tool uses specially formed embossing roll for long edges and contours with radius of 0.8+ in., while deburring MultiTool handles smaller radii, intricate geometries, and corners in single stroke or in nibble mode.

Patented Tools Create Burr-Free Contours and Deburred Parts with the Punching Machine
FARMINGTON, Conn., February 15, 2006 - TRUMPF has introduced two new tools for producing sheet metal parts that come out of the punching machine burr-free. Thanks to the innovations of the new roller deburring tool and the deburring MultiTool, a separate manual deburring stage is no longer necessary. In the case of coated sheets and parts with forming, these tools significantly reduce throughput times. Both tools have something in common: they displace any burr by chamfering the sharp edges (about 0.004 inches) on the underside of the part.
The roller deburring tool uses a specially formed embossing roll for long edges and contours with a radius of more than 0.8 inches. In connection with the MultiShear tool (a tool for punching outer and inner contours without overlap marks) the deburring tool produces excellent edge quality - for example in areas of a part that are visible or need to have a clean look - while maintaining speeds of 1600 ipm. The 3-way deburring MultiTool is suited to handle smaller radii, intricate geometries, and corners in a single stroke or in nibble mode.
Both tools are suitable for punching sheet thicknesses of up to 0.10 inches in steel, stainless steel and aluminum. They are controlled by the TruTops Punch programming system. The two innovations have an additional benefit: the risk of injury is reduced when handling parts. Since there aren't any punching burrs, an ideal foundation is laid for high quality welding and overlap welding.
