Spine Implant treats lower back pain.

February 21, 2007 - Available for lumbar fusion surgery, VertiGraft VG2® TLIF Spine Specialty Allograft features unique geometry that facilitates straight-in, oblique surgical technique. It consists of composite cortical-cancellous-cortical construction so every allograft spacer has inherent osteoconductivity. Implant promotes fusion by providing both biomechanical strength of cortical bone and osteoconductive matrix of cancellous bone.

LifeNet Unveils New Biomedical Spine Implant

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Feb. 13 /-- LifeNet, a leading biomedical engineering agency, unveils the VertiGraft VG2(R) TLIF Spine Specialty Allograft. This product is available for lumbar fusion surgery to treat lower back pain.

VG2 Spine Specialty Allografts feature composite cortical-cancellous- cortical construction so every allograft spacer has inherent osteoconductivity. The new LifeNet VertiGraft VG2(R) TLIF has a unique geometry that facilitates a streamlined straight-in, oblique surgical technique. It is a machined allograft composite made to promote fusion by providing both the biomechanical strength of cortical bone and the osteoconductive matrix of cancellous bone. VG2(R) TLIF Allograft was co- developed by DePuy Spine and LifeNet to offer all the benefits of a VG2(R) graft in a TLIF solution.

"VG2(R) TLIF is innovative and we're excited to be able to be the first organization to unveil this specific type of implant. It is the only TLIF- specific allograft to incorporate a streamlined straight-in design, cortical- cancellous-cortical composite construction with a choice of lordotic and parallel configurations. VG2(R) TLIF allows for a less invasive lumbar fusion technique and it makes a challenging surgery a little more manageable. We hope this new VG2(R) TLIF will meet the surgeon's needs and ultimately benefit the patient by providing less risk," says Michael Hobert, LifeNet VertiGraft Product Manager.

LifeNet's CEO Rony Thomas states, "LifeNet is advancing the marketplace and we know this implant is a market breakthrough. Our research and development teams spent many months specifically designing this implant so it will provide the best solution for the patient. We want to maximize the chances of successful transplantation and we are proud to be able to provide the VG2(R) TLIF as a solution."

LifeNet will exhibit the company's products at this year's American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) meeting, to be held in San Diego February 14-16. At AAOS, LifeNet will officially unveil the new VertiGraft VG2(R) TLIF Spine Specialty Allograft. LifeNet exhibit booth No. 2608 at the AAOS Annual Meeting in San Diego will give surgeons a chance to learn more about LifeNet's product lines and its quality and safety record. Since 1995, LifeNet has distributed 1.5 million biomedical implants with no incidence of disease transmission linked to tissue screened and processed by LifeNet. This year's exhibit will highlight LifeNet's 25 years of service to the medical community. "Surgeons can depend on us. We offer high-quality and safe biomedical implants in order to help restore health," adds Thomas.

LifeNet, founded in 1982, is a full service biomedical tissue banking system and a leading non-profit organ and tissue donation agency whose mission is saving lives and restoring health. LifeNet provides recovery and processing services for musculoskeletal and cardiovascular tissues, distributing more than 200,000 biomedical implants every year to restore health to patients around the world.
