LiveDigital Launches First User-Driven Web 2.0 Video Programming and Revenue Sharing Platform
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 30 /- LiveDigital (http://www.livedigital.com/), a next generation media community, has unveiled the future of personal Internet broadcasting with the release of its user generated channel and video programming platform, allowing any user to design, program, and brand their own "Internet channel" importing high-quality content. For the first time, users can harness the thousands of videos uploaded by others and "program" them for public viewing. Each month, LiveDigital will have a "Sweeps" period, and split projected advertising revenues among the top 25 channels. The user-driven advertising and revenue sharing contest, which is set to launch on February 1st, will give channel producers the chance to compete for $25,000 in cash. Official contest rules can be found at http://livedigital.com/docs/sweeps.
"We believe that video sharing and hosting technology has become a commodity on the web. Most of the top video sharing sites host the same popular videos. The real talent is how to present media in an entertaining way that will engage users for a longer period of time," said Sumant Sridharan, Director of New Media for LiveDigital.
For the first time, users will be able to take over all facets of entertainment programming, including content management, design, advertising and promotion, and detailed statistical analysis. Channel producers will have the option to show advertising on their respective channels. Similar to television, the channels that serve more ads and have higher viewership will incrementally earn more money.
"As consumers gain control of their online entertainment, the Internet is being used as today's TV, as viewers are able to find and view dynamic entertainment that simply cannot be found on mainstream television," said Lawrence Ng, Co-Founder and CEO of Oversee.net, parent company of LiveDigital. "Most of today's video sharing sites are merely an assorted collection of content loosely organized by tags and categories. Content becomes much more entertaining when it is programmed in a meaningful way. LiveDigital is the first site to recognize this and provide the tools that allow each user to become their own program director."
In support of the launch of their revolutionary new format, LiveDigital is calling on its members and all online video enthusiasts to step up their Internet video presence by creating content, and launching their own channels to compete with other LiveDigital members for their audience share on LiveDigital's 16 Networks for a portion of LiveDigital's advertising revenue. The LiveDigital Channels network guide is available at http://livedigital.com/networks.
"The traditional top-down television model tells users when and where they have to watch their programming. LiveDigital is the first online experience of its kind to bring this ability to program entertainment to the masses. We are no longer limited to a few hundred channels that are available on satellite and cable TV. Anyone can easily create their own channel, broadcast it, and make money," said Sridharan. "Our active community will tell us which channels have the highest entertainment value and these channels will receive the most exposure -- this is the phenomenon of 'bottom-up' programming."
Channel programmers can easily use LiveDigital's powerful set of enhanced technology features to add, edit and organize new content from anywhere on the web and "brand" their channel by customizing its every aspect with LiveDigital's AJAX-based Theme Editor. Programmers can also send custom newsletters and updates to channel subscribers, allow others to contribute to their channel and monitor channel performance statistics with a built-in traffic monitor so they can increase their channel's popularity by giving their viewers what they want to see.
In addition to providing users with more control over their video content than any other media sharing site, a dynamic viewing interface allows LiveDigital Channel viewers to watch multiple video clips without ever leaving the main Channel page, for a more engaging and easy to use viewing experience. Viewers can simply click on the video thumbnails displayed on the right-hand portion of the screen to begin playing a completely different video.
To assist viewers in navigating LiveDigital, each Channel is sorted and placed into one of 16 LiveDigital Networks including BoomBox (music), MotoZone (racing and automotive), Hollyweird (entertainment and gossip), LDLOL (comedy), Life (home and garden), X-Stream (outrageous and extreme), WTF (seemingly random clips), Sci-Tech (science and technology), Game On! (video and computer games), Animal Haus (animals and nature), Animation, Play by Play (sports), LDOG (original LiveDigital content), International and NewsCore (current events).
