Safety Bus System targets plant automation applications.

January 23, 2007 - SafetyNET p Ethernet-based system for safety-related, standard control and motion control applications features real-time capability. It scans topology of overall system architecture for identification of network structure, and gives status diagnostics on plant, machinery, and communication links. Decentralization allows controller intelligence to be transferred locally to field level, and open architecture allows implementation in parallel with other industrial Ethernet protocols.

Pilz SafetyNET p Launches Next Generation in Automation Safety

(CANTON, MI) -- When Pilz introduced the safe, open bus system SafetyBUS p in 1999, it set a standard for the safe networking of plant and machinery. The system has since proven itself in thousands of decentralized automation applications around the world in a wide range of industries.

Pilz engineers set high benchmarks for the conversion of SafetyBUS p to Ethernet technology, and hit their targets with the launch of SafetyNET p, a combined Ethernet-based system for safety-related, standard control and motion control applications. SafetyNET p has real-time capability, is totally flexible, and, in keeping with Pilz's philosophy, is open for other networks and utilities.

SafetyNET p's real-time capability makes it the choice for even the toughest applications, such as controlling drives on multi-axis systems. Users can scan the topology of the overall system architecture, facilitating identification of the network structure and giving users status diagnostics on their plant and machinery as well as additional information on the status of communication links.

SafetyNET p provides flexible topologies and structures, making it adaptable to all types of applications. Its high level of decentralization means controller intelligence is transferred locally to field level, which increases performance and adds to the flexibility of the overall system, while its open architecture means users can also implement the system in parallel with other industrial Ethernet protocols such as EtherNet/IP or Profinet/IO. SafetyNET p is also totally compatible with existing SafetyBUS p applications.

The World Leader in Safe Automation
Pilz Automation Safety is the world leader in the development and manufacture of safety automation systems, products, and services. Its history of innovation since 1948 includes the development of the first Emergency Safety Relay, the PNOZ product line, which has become the industry standard; the world's first all-electronic safety relay, the PNOZe1p; the first 16-amp safety relay, the PNOZpower; and one of the first Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs). In 2004, Pilz Automation Safety L.P. celebrated 10 years at its North American headquarters in Canton, MI. For more information, contact Pilz at 1-734-354-0272, or visit www.pilz.com.
