New Linksys Wireless-G Print Server Works with Multifunction Printers to Add Versatility to Home and Small Office Networks

Everyone on a Wireless Network Can Print, Scan, and Copy Using a WPSM54G Print Server and a Supported Multifunction Printer

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 8 - From the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show, Linksys(R), a Division of Cisco Systems, Inc., and the recognized leading global manufacturer of voice, wireless, and networking hardware for home, Small Office/Home Office (SOHO) and small business user, today announced the availability of the Wireless-G Print Server with Multifunction Printer Support (WPSM54G), its first print server with support for scanning, faxing and copying,.

According to Gartner, Inc., a research and advisory firm, more than 49 million multifunction devices were sold in 2005. The WPSM54G allows these consumers and small businesses to easily access their multifunction devices to fax, scan, or copy from any PC on the network without the need for a separate dedicated "always-on" PC to manage the process. Print jobs are automatically cued and processed by the WPSM54G, eliminating the need for a manual connection to the device.

"With the popularity of multifunction devices on the market today, there was a clear need for a device that enables consumers to use them wirelessly," said Mani Dhillon, director of product marketing, consumer business organization, Linksys. "The WPSM54G addresses that need with the ease of use consumers have come to expect from Linksys products."

Compatible Devices

The WPSM54G is compatible with select multifunction devices from Canon, Dell, Epson, HP, Lexmark and other leading manufacturers. Traditional printers from several manufacturers are also supported. A full roster of compatible devices is available at: www.linksys.com/supportedprinters. The web page will be updated on a quarterly basis as new products are added to the list.

Pricing and Availability

Available now through Linksys e-commerce retailers the WPSM54G has an estimated street price of $119.99. The product will soon be available at retail stores, direct response, and VAR partners.
