Connector System Boasts Flexibility

HARRISBURG, Pa. - Jan. 2, 2007 - Tyco Electronics Corporation has recently introduced a new interface for industrial and rolling stock applications, offering enormous flexibility. With the new HVS highly variable connector system, end-users can choose from over 25 different connector modules and quickly and easily mount or dismount up to six single or three double modules into a solid metal frame without tooling. In most applications, the new connector module system reduces the number of interfaces required because customers can build their own connector interface system specifically for their needs. The high flexibility offers near unlimited use.

A wide range of connector modules for the HVS connector system is available, covering standard applications, as well as high voltage (up to 3000V nominal voltage), high nominal current (up to 250A), pneumatic and high density applications, with up to 25 poles per module available. Modules can accept cables up to 120mm˛ diameter with machined or stamped crimp contacts in addition to spring type terminals, the preferred types of connection. Connection with RJ45 (coax, twisted pair and fieldbus standards), USB and fire wire contacts is also possible. Furthermore, Tyco Electronics supplies a contact for high-speed applications (up to 1GHz).

Populated HVS connector systems can easily be mounted into all standard industrial heavy-duty connector enclosures from Tyco Electronics. The devices feature a ground contact that is die cast with the frame. The devices also meet IP65 to IP68 specifications and are pluggable into competitors' products.

The broad nature of this product precludes a general pricing statement. Deliveries are typically eight weeks.
