Thermal Gap Filler cools and protects hot PCB components.
December 18, 2006 -
With 10 Shore 00 hardness, Softtherm® 86/200 can blanket over multiple components of differing height, contours, and planarity. It features elastic, structurally secure silicone filled with ceramic particles. Product retains its memory after compression, enabling it to be reused. Thermal resistance is 1.50 K/W, and thermal conductivity is 1.0 W/mK. Available in die-cut shapes and in sheet form from 0.5-5.0 mm thick, filler is suited for heat pipes, spreader bars, and heat sinks.

Ultra-Soft Thermal Gap Filler Cools And Protects Hot PCB Components
Mahwah, NJ --- MH&W International has introduced Softtherm® 86/200 material for providing an ultra-soft, thermally conductive gap filling interface between hot PCB components and their heat spreaders. Softtherm 86/200 has a very low 10 Shore 00 hardness. The material can blanket over multiple components of differing height, contours, and planarity. It is especially useful on fragile components sensitive to high pressure, or when only very low mounting pressure is available for attaching a heat spreading device.
Softtherm 86/200 material features a highly elastic, structurally secure silicone filled with ceramic particles. Unlike many gap fillers, it retains its memory after compression which enables the material to be reused. Thermal resistance is just 1.50 K/W, and thermal conductivity is 1.0 W/mK. Gap filler parts made from 86-200 material have strong wet-out and air gap-filling properties. 86/200 is UL rated 94V-0 and has a TML (total mass loss) under 0.40%. It can be used in application temperatures from -60 to 200°C.
Softtherm 86/200 comes with an easily released, protective liner. Its natural tackiness makes installation fast and simple. 86/200 parts are reusable, saving time and costs. An adhesive coating is available for permanent mounting. Typical applications include automotive engines, power supplies, medical devices, and audio and IT systems. 86-200 can be used with heat pipes, spreader bars, heat sinks and other cooling hardware.
86/200 thermal gap filler parts are available in standard and custom die-cut shapes and in sheet form in thicknesses ranging from 0.5 to 5.0 mm. Pricing for the material starts at $0.10 for 1-in2 parts, 0.5 mm thick, in high volume orders. MH&W's family of Softtherm gap filler materials provides a wide range of cost-performance choices for different cooling needs. Complete information is available at www.mhw-thermal.com.
MH&W International provides innovative, customer-focused thermal management solutions, including Keratherm graphite film, and a wide range of thermally conductive films, gap fillers, and insulators.
