Thomas & Betts Introduces the First Factory Made One-Inch Knockout Masonry Box Available

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Nov. 30, 2006 - To meet the growing demand for additional wiring capacity in conduit systems, Thomas & Betts (NYSE: TNB) introduced the Steel City® 1" KO Masonry Boxes, the industry's first factory-made one-inch knockout Masonry box. At 3 1/2 inches deep and 3 3/4 inches long, the 1" KO Masonry Box features a one-inch knockout on each end and two on the bottom, as well as two 1/2-inch and 3/4-inch eccentric knockouts. The box is available in single-gang and is non-gangable.

"School and light commercial construction require more wiring capacity to accommodate the increasing demand for power, data, voice, video and security connections," said Joe Pede, product manager for Thomas & Betts. "The additional conductors desired drive contractors to use one-inch pipe to meet the capacity requirements and modify standard masonry boxes to fit one-inch conduit. These field modifications are labor intensive and time consuming. The introduction of the Steel City® 1" KO Masonry Box will streamline this process saving time on the job site."

The Steel City® 1" KO Masonry Box is UL® listed, offers a stable, welded steel, single-piece design for heavy-duty applications, and will not deform after installation.
