Astrodyne Miniaturizes Size and Cost of Open-Frame Switching Power Supplies for Medical Applications

Most economical 40W/60W power solutions available

Miniature 2" x 4" x 1.2" size

Single and dual outputs from 5 to 48VDC

Power densities >6W/in³

TAUNTON, Mass., November 11, 2006 -Astrodyne Corporation, the leader in standard and modified standard power solutions, announces two new series of ultra-miniature, open-frame modular switching power supplies. In a small mechanical footprint measuring only 2"W X 4"L X 1.2"H, both the ASM40 and ASM60 series provide power densities >6W/in³, offering the most economical 40W/60W power solutions available. Designed to meet the space and performance parameters needed in medical and dental instrumentation and systems, the compact ASM40/ASM60 series accept universal inputs ranging from 85-265VAC. Both the ASM40 and the ASM60 series are available in eleven models which provide single and dual outputs of 5VDC to 48VDC.

The ASM40/ASM60 series feature an integral power-good LED indicator and output adjustment potentiometer, and operate over an ambient temperature range of 0 to 50ºC without forced cooling or output power derating. All models contain overvoltage and short circuit protection circuitry and internal input filtering. All models also feature Molex-style I/O connectors. The ASM40/ASM60 series are fully approved to UL/EN60601-1 medical safety specifications. Commercially approved, non-medical versions are also available.
