DeWalt Launches Cordless SDS Rotary Hammers - Completely Redesigned To Provide Corded Drilling Performance

-- New Rotary Hammers Features SHOCKS(TM)- Active Vibration Control and Compact
L-Shaped Design, Significantly Reducing Vibration and Allowing Access to Tight Spaces --

November 2006 - DEWALT, a leading manufacturer of industrial power tools, today announced the launch of its heavy-duty 18V, 24V and 36V cordless SDS rotary hammers (DC212KA, DC223KA, and DC233KL). The hammers have been designed to give users maximum run-time, performance and comfort. The rotary hammers are ideal for professional concrete contractors, electricians, mechanical contractors, plumbers, HVAC professionals, window glazers, remodelers and general contractors.

DEWALT completely redesigned the new cordless SDS rotary hammers to run more efficiently and give users greater run-time and performance. The 36V hammer provides 1.9 ft-lbs of impact energy, which is equal to that of competitive corded SDS hammers, while maintaining a similar weight to its corded counterparts. Independent testing showed that the DC233KL can drill a ½" x 3" deep hole into 3500 PSI concrete 35 percent faster than Hilti's corded TE6 unit.** In the same application, independent testing also found that the DC233KL has 13 percent greater run-time than the Hilti 36V TE6A and 36 percent more run-time than the Bosch 11536VSR 36V rotary hammers.*

Engineered to give professional users a more comfortable drilling experience, the new cordless SDS rotary hammers are built with patented SHOCKS(TM) - Active Vibration Control System. The SHOCKS(TM) - Active Vibration Control is a system of shock absorbers located between the handle and the hammer mechanism. This feature significantly reduces the amount of vibration felt by users and increases comfort during extended use. The three new hammers are also lightweight and feature an anti-slip comfort grip to reduce user fatigue during extended use.

The new line of cordless SDS rotary hammers were built to be the most compact in the industry at only 10-1/2" in length. For added versatility, the DC212KA 18V SDS rotary hammer features dual mode (hammerdrill/drill) operation for optimal performance, while the 24V and 36V hammers feature an added chipping function.
