Mitsubishi's MD+CELL Provides Longer Unattended Running Time For Medical Manufacturers
Wood Dale, IL - Mitsubishi EDM delivers longer unattended operations to medical manufacturers with the MD+CELL. The unit combines the Mitsubishi MELFA RV-12S six-axis robot with the Mitsubishi MD+PRO.
Mitsubishi has integrated the high-speed, precision wire EDM with a Mitsubishi robot to minimize the need for operator intervention and maximize unattended running time. The combination of these products also insures that sales and technical support come from a single-source provider.
The MD+PRO comes standard with .006"~.012" wire capable automatic threading and all-axis absolute control, which enables highly accurate positioning without returning to zero after power failure.
The machine has the option of a full servo B-axis. Integration of the B-axis introduces two new processes for EDM in the medical market turn-n-burn and indexing applications. The indexing capabilities preserve accuracy with guaranteed angle precision by eliminating operator intervention for part repositioning. The continuous rotation of the B-axis during turn-n-burn applications replaces the need for secondary and finishing processes.
The six-axis Mitsubishi RV-12S robot, with 12 kg payload, provides a 64-position magazine. The robot automatically changes workpieces during machining, minimizing dedicated operator time.
