Thomas & Betts' Steel City® - Bowers® Nail-On Boxes Save Installation Time

Switch Box Features "Fast Set" Mounting; Red Fire Alarm Box Easily Identified

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - November 2, 2006 - Thomas & Betts recently introduced two nonmetallic nail-on boxes in its Steel City® - Bowers® product line that offer time-saving features for residential wood-stud applications. The Nonmetallic Single-Gang "Fast-Set" Switch Box (catalog no. 120-N-FS) offers a patent-pending design for quick device mounting, and the Nonmetallic 3 1/2" Fire Alarm Ceiling Box (catalog no. 3R-16-N-RED) is red for easy identification. Both are constructed of durable polycarbonate that is resistant to extremes in temperature, offering a two-hour firewall and ceiling rating.

"Both the Single-Gang 'Fast-Set' Switch Box and the Fire Alarm Ceiling Box were designed to save time and money," said Dan Michaelis, product manager for Thomas & Betts' Construction Products Group. "In the case of the switch box, the 'Fast-Set' mounting device enables the installer to merely push the screw into place and secure it with only a half turn. The fire alarm box is colored red for easy visual identification, which reduces time in identifying fire alarm and smoke detector locations for building inspectors, as well as reducing the risk of installation errors."

The Nonmetallic Single-Gang "Fast-Set" Switch Box's capacity is 20.3 cubic inches. The Nonmetallic 3 1/2" fire Alarm Ceiling Box's capacity is 16 cubic inches.
