Atlas Adds Advanced Control Systems to the Ci3000+ Weather-Ometer® And Fade-Ometer

Improved functionality, scalability and ease-of-use to meet exacting test parameters of the textile industry

Chicago, IL - October 2, 2006 - Atlas Material Testing Technology LLC, the global leader in weathering testing services and technology, has added an enhanced digital control system to their Ci3000+ Weather-Ometer and Fade-Ometer giving operators more options, flexibility and control of their accelerated weathering testing. Known as the world standard for lightfastness testing and approved by nearly all major US and European retailers in the textile industry, the 3000® Series enhancement equates to the most advanced and easy-to-use xenon weathering test instruments the industry has ever seen.

"Using the same logical flow for ease-of-use, we've dramatically enhanced the operating infrastructure of the 3000® Series," says Matt McGreer, General Manager Weathering Instruments Products for Atlas Material Testing Technology LLC. "Employing extensive research and customer insight, we've identified new innovative standards and incorporated the most up-to-date technology for the control system upgrade. This translates into a Ci3000+ Weather-Ometer that precisely meets and exceeds customers weathering and lightfastness testing needs."

One of the most notable changes is a modern, full color TFT touch screen display with intuitive icons for easier interpretation of operating parameters and warnings. However, at the heart of the upgrade is the embedded control system that replaces the PLC controller of the previous generation. Internally, analog control circuits were replaced with a robust digital network for more reliable and accurate control and monitoring of the data. Memory capacity has been significantly increased allowing additional features and functions previously managed by external controllers - such as water resistivity and lamp water temperature. Now with a single control system, operators can be more efficient analyzing instrument performance, monitoring test parameters and performing calibration procedures.

Other standard features and benefits of the new control system are:
o Sub-cycle repeat programming for copying standard and saving them as templates
o Full color trend plot screen with large memory
o Smart media card interface for test data portability
o Smart sensors that communicate their status to the touch panel at power-up
o Streaming data output formatted for compatibility with modern laboratory information management systems (LIMS).

The advanced control system is built with scalability for future upgrades. New software versions will simply be up-loaded via the interface.

For more information about the advanced control system, please contact a sales representative by phone at (773) 327-4520 or via e-mail at info@atlas-mts.com. Visit the Atlas website at www.atlas-mts.com.
