BEL'S Extensive Offering of Polymer PTC Resettable Fuses Protect Broad Spectrum of Electronic Equipment

Devices are Offered in SMD and Radial Leaded Styles and In Assorted Voltages and Sizes

Jersey City, NJ, November 2, 2006...Bel Fuse Inc., a premier developer of fuses and magnetic-based solutions for high-speed networking and computer applications, today announced the availability of a full line of surface mount and radial leaded Polymeric Positive Temperature Coefficient (PPTC) resettable fuses. Boasting superior functional life performance due to their unique polymer formulation, Bel's new resettable fuses help protect against overcurrent surges and overtemperature faults by limiting the flow of dangerously high current during fault conditions. The PTC devices do not require replacement after a fault event as they reset themselves, allowing the circuit to resume normal operating conditions once the power is removed. This resettable functionality makes them the preferred alternative to traditional fuses and fusible links as their employment enables manufacturers to reduce repair, service, and warranty costs. Further, The RoHS-6 compliant resettable fuses are engineered to assist equipment in complying with telecom specifications including UL 60950, FCC Part 68, and Telcordia GR-1089.

Available in radial leaded styles with ratings of from 16 V to 240 VAC/VDC, and in industry standard 1812 and 2920 chip sizes, the parts are ideally suited for the broadest range of applications. Featuring low DCR, high voltage ratings, and both high and low voltage and hold designs, they may be confidently specified for use in industrial, computer, battery, consumer electronics, telecom, and automotive applications. The most common systems in which they may be specified include digital video recorders, set-top boxes, batteries and battery chargers, and computer peripherals. They are moreover highly appropriate in such networking and telecommunications equipment as xDSL and ADSL linecards and modems, T1/E1 systems, and twisted pair telecom ports.

Bel's radial leaded resettable fuse offering is comprised of parts rated at 90V and 30V, along with those rated at 16V (high interrupt type) with high current ratings, and 60V with 250V telecom lightning rating. High voltage radial fuses rated at 240V AC/VDC are also provided. The radial leaded devices are available with kinked or straight leads. Additionally, SMD 1812 and 2920 chip fuses are offered. To learn more about Bel's polymer PTC resettable fuses, visit http://www.belfuse.com/Data/DBObect/PTC-Fuses.pdf.

Prices for Bel's PTC devices range from $0.10 to $0.45 each in production quantities, depending on hold current rating. Delivery is from stock to 8 weeks. Samples are immediately available.
